Just his natural accent - it’s very done as Brits abroad apart from the maid and a questionable scouse at one point.

So the report back was that it is extremely camp, very cheesy and full of slapstick humour. However, the hubby really enjoyed it! He said Joe was pretty good and Kate Robbins basically recreates her Babs character from Dinnerldies. Also the theatre was almost full, so some venues must be selling ok

I always presume these shows are sort of designed to be heavily discounted i.e. the need to discount is already sort of built into the price plan?
Like when DFS reduces a sofa to £400 from £800 even though it was only briefly £800 for a couple of hours last November sometime.

Saw this tonight a wet Wednesday in Wolverhampton with a closed off upper circle half full circle and stalls ...... and ... well must say everyone went out happy and smiling and and played along panto style during the show and it ended with a standing ovation .... I know took me by surprise too .... yes there’s lots wrong with it .... and it’s basically a cut price Benidorm stage play with songs ... it’s almost the same exact story 🤪 but more loose ends Joe does a great job keeping things moving along and is great with the audience was a lot of love for him tonight surprised me how good he actually is Kate robbins stole every scene she was in with her Rosario / mrs overall cleaner .... and multiple impressions that had audience in stitches Rest of the cast are pretty young things 😊 and fit and work so hard don’t know how they keep going If you need a bit of camp fluffy Benidorm mamma Mia wedding singer theatre and can get a deal give it a go it may surprise you too

The show is corny but it was great camp fun with lots of double entendres etc. For anyone who grew up in the 1980's then I'd recommend it for an escapist night out. Certainly be a good one for hen parties and fabulous guys.

The cast work hard but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Even as jukebox musicals go, this one insults the intelligence with dumb plot holes and crass jokes. Well- I can only speak of the first half...

Does anyone know of any discount codes for this in Liverpool? Normally they would have send some out by now for a show this quiet!

I was at tonight’s performance at the Liverpool Empire. Despite a rocky start (we had a show stoppage within 10 minutes of the show starting due to technical issues), i actually had a good time tonight. Ok, plot wise it’s wafer thin, but with plenty of crude humour and on stage energy from the cast, as audience member you can’t help but sit back and enjoy the ride. Myself and the other patrons tonight definitely had a great night and left with a smile on our faces.
It’s the first time I’ve seen Joe Mcelderry on stage. How much energy does that lad have? He’s like the Duracell bunny of the theatrical world. Like others have posted, I was really impressed with his singing and won over the audience in seconds the first time he made his stage entrance. Though for me, the star of the show was Kate Robbins as the cleaner. She had everyone in stitches with her impressions (even her Jim Bowen one). The biggest cheer was for her Cilla Black impression (which really was spot on). A special mention to the young male cast members who were well received by a large percentage of the audience every time they took their shirts off.
Vocally, I thought the cast was very good and even having the on stage band, I didn’t feel the band drowned out the vocals.
I’ll confess that on my way to the theatre tonight, I thought that this is the sort of show that will bring out the bad behaviour brigade in force and ruin the show for me. As it turned out, everyone around me was fantastically well behaved on the whole. We had some good natured heckling from some patrons which was taken in good spirit by everyone and at the audience participation segments, everyone joined in.
It’s a light and fluffy piece of theatre, but personally, I enjoy these kinds of nights out at the theatre every now and then when you don’t have to think too much about what you are watching.

Is there anything to suggest that Joe might have a future in MT? He’s obviously got a good voice but how about the acting? Or is this show too daft to be able to tell? Nothing much seemed to happen after he did that stint in Joseph a couple of years ago.

Personally, I think his role here is so OTT in a really daft show that it’s probably hard to tell if he’s a good actor or not from this production. Certainly, I would like to see him tackle a role that has a more depth to the character to make a more informed decision.

Joe plays the matinee idol to perfection.I know someone who has worked with him and by all accounts he is an all round good egg. Will get plenty of work in pap like CT,pantos etc and do the odd reality show....it’s a living!
