Is there any way to book using theatre tokens without phoning the expensive 0844 number? (and if possible with no booking fee!). It costs a huge amount to call from my mobile Just follow the Home Office’s advice and borrow someone else’s phone.

They add a £1.50 per ticket fee, plus optional postage charge by phone, so you won't save anything using the Ticket Factory number. Book online if you can. I wanted to use theatre tokens. Am I better biting the bullet and paying by card then using the tokens for something else later?

If you don't want to pay a booking fee, yes - or buy your tickets in person at the box office using the tokens next time you are in London, if that is possible. Otherwise, just accept it is going to cost you to use them anyway, and do it for a show you want to see, I guess. I've usually used them for Really Useful theatres with no charge for print your own and a standard rate call. It was the double whammy here that put me off. I've booked by card

How long is an average production of Little Shop? I’m guessing this one won’t be much different. I remember it not being too long when I saw the 2016 tour.

Are Marc Antolin and Jemima Roper sharing the same fringe? Do they toss a 'Mary Stuart' coin every night to see who gets to wear it?

How often are shows cancelled at the Open Air Theatre? Got a theatre weekend in London booked and want to see this but worried that the show might get cancelled and leave us with a wasted Saturday night. Is it a common occurrence?

Only cancelled if the rain is really heavy and dangerous for the actors but from the summer we have been having so far I bet they are very happy.

Amy offers about for this? I haven't been to the Open Air Theatre since Ragtime back in 2012 but this certainly appeals.

haha it does remind me of the wasteland they used for Ragtime though.. I guess the same way On the Town and Jesus were quite similar.
I do like it though, not your classic little shop design

Great looking set design! (Not my photo) Amazing how they can put a set like that together in like 1 week.

Only cancelled if the rain is really heavy and dangerous for the actors but from the summer we have been having so far I bet they are very happy. Only 1 rain off this year, which is outstanding. If the drizzle is persistent, they will pull the show, they they did with me with JCS, they attempted to do the gig, but after 30 minutes and 2 stoppages to mop the stage from the rain - they realised it was going to be hopeless, which it is as the actors forget to act as they are worried about slipping. If anyone is going, this theatre is a great experience a Truly a one of a kind experience, but your visit will be improved if you are prepared. if going in to the matinee take suntan lotion and sun glasses. In the evening it is worth taking a light fleece as the tempature drops and the chill is noticable when sitting inactive. For either performance it’s handy to pack a hand towel (if I’d does rain good to dry yourself and wipe your seat), maybe a cagoule and insect repellant, those man eating plants also can contain blood sucking insects. Great place to take a picnic, big lawn to eat it on. At Baker Street there is both a Sainsbury’s, Co Op and Tesco’s metro a couple of minutes from the station. on the station there is a very small M&S. At least a 10 minute walk to get back to Baker Street Station at the end, so be mindful for any last train connections.

Post removed due to board "copyright violation" policy. A reminder to all that you may NOT post unauthorised photographs or other material from current productions. That’s a shame Monkey because that single image has done more to interest me in the production than anything else released so far. Between that and Christine Modestou I might now give it a go! 😬

Where would the board stand on members providing a link to an unauthorised photo, or to the Instagram account of someone who has shared an unauthorised photo? Grey enough to be acceptable or still too close for comfort?

It is a shame, but it's also cheaper than us being sued. Touche! #grumpymonkey

Genuine question, if the theatre/producer allows photos of the set/show cloth to be taken, is there any real issue in sharing links to them? I entirely agree though when it comes to unauthorised photos or footage taken during a performance.

I suppose it depends on where the Producer thinks a photo taken by a punter will end up. If it’s in someone’s Facebook or insta shared with a bunch of semi interested friends and family they might be ok. If it’s on a popular theatre specific website they might not be happy with unauthorised pics of their new set being shown. As we don’t know how individual producers/theatres might react, we have to err on the side of caution.
Anyway we have a rich language, how about those who saw the pic describing it to those who didn’t? It looked a bit Flintstones/Bedrock to me!

Somewhere between the ‘Fame’ episode “The Monster That Devoured Las Vegas” and the floor show in “Rocky Horror”.

Saw it last night and overall I enjoyed it. The vocals were very strong and the music sounded great. The cast were in general great with the guy playing the dentist being the weakest link imho. His number was so boring and terribly choreographed that it was almost embarrassing. They should really rethink that number before opening night. Fortunately the rest of the musical numbers were generally very good.
The set looked ok to start with, although it was pretty much a copy of the one they used for Ragtime a few years ago. Unfortunately once the action started and the homeless people start moving around the supermarket carts containing big skyscrapers, one couldn't help but wondering 'what are they thinking?'. It looked really awful. The whole set became the Open Air Ragtime meets the recent National's Macbeth, very weird. And the strange lightning design didn't help either. The costumes looked in general very amateurish, really badly designed with very few exceptions, only the outfits for Audrey and the three narrator girls looked fine.
And finally Audrey II. The plant's design is awful, the first time you see it, it looks like a badly designed children's toy. The drag queen was good, but if you are not familiar with the story, like some children in the area where I was, you might find confusing why a draft queen comes out of the plant and sings. It's not made clear to start with that she's actually the plant. Having said that she was quite funny, looked and sounded la bit like Divine which in my book is a good thing.
It was enjoyable overall but it could have been so much better in the right hands.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this tonight. I haven't seen any production of Little Shop before (or OAT's Ragtime) so I have nothing to compare against, but I thought it was brilliant!
I thought the whole cast were strong, including Matt Willis. I liked how they did the plant, though I believe in the past the plant hasn't been human? Vocals were strong across the board and there was such energy!
I thought the set worked fine - again I had no prior knowledge of the show so can't comment in relation to previous productions.
We did have a show stop towards the end of Act I for 10 or so minutes due to a medical emergency, but this was swiftly dealt with and the show resumed.
All in all, a really fun night! I've always wanted to see Little Shop and I feel like this was a brilliant first version to see.
Four stars from me

Skyscrapers in supermarket trolleys. Why? Please cut all 8 of them now.
Great B movie type set that takes it back to its original form.
Loved Audrey 2. Panto but also brilliant. Struggled to hear in the first half but as it was a second preview ...
Jemima Rooper. Wow. Vulnerable but charming.
Great vocals and acting all round.
Good fun and a fantastic night out.
The finale is great fun.
4 out of 5 stars
