I’m claiming psychic ability. After listening to EPOS and she played Fame my first thought was I bet Selladoor do Fame next after Flashdance and Footloose.

Not always very high value in terms of ticket yield or donations

Apparently they will be doing a special offer where you if you want Fame tickets but don't have enough money you can start paying: in sweat.

Gosh. I remember seeing this at the Bristol Hippodrome many years ago. Gorgeous theatre, rotten show. Seriously, I really think it was one of the most dreadful things I've ever seen.

I saw a tour of it a few years ago - fantastic singing and dancing, but the majority of the younger cast couldn't manage an American accent to save their lives. Quite obviously a lot of the audience hadn't realised that it was different to the film either, judging by the amount of comments around me when everyone was leaving.

This was quite possibly the worst musical I've ever seen. Saw the UK tour around 2014/15

Nope, or at least it wasn't, and it would have improved it immeasurably. Completely different songs from series or film, aside from the title song at the very end and a snippet of it earlier (which perked up the audience, who promptly lapsed into dejection on realising it was only a snippet and they were getting 'There She Goes' instead of 'Fame').

If only! Along with Starmaker and especially Desdemona. The Kids From Fame album is fantastic. I couldn't wait to watch it every week back when it was on. I even downloaded it on Spotify Apparently they were not allowed to use the music from the film or the tv series, and only allowed to use part of the title song, hence it's susung twice, once in Spanish.

I did Fame a few months ago at uni - it was my last musical before graduation, so for that reason I have a soft spot for it. It's a bit of an odd one though isn't it? Very bitty.

If ever a show screamed terrible z list celebrity casting it is this one! to be fair I thought the same for Spamalot, and Selladoor didn't in the end. Still, I'm sure there will be some "famous" people in this!

Seen the show on tour a few times down the years, story isn't the greatest but it's a feelgood show and is more an ensemble show than a star vehicle show so there will be some good parts for those who are cast.
Wonder if they have ever tried to get the "Kids from Fame" songs for a stage show, those songs were huge back in the day and as a "jukebox musical" would work well.

Awful show and awful producing company. I'll avoid this one like the plague.

Awful show and awful producing company. I'll avoid this one like the plague. They're not an awful producing company. Their quality of production just alternates a lot. I really enjoyed Footloose, American Idiot was incredible and Little Shop of Horrors was really good. It's also not Selladoor producing it on its own

Like with all of the ‘Grease’ negotiations in the 90’s, would it not be worth actually getting/coughing up for the rights so that they could give the audience the show they want (the film/tv show onstage) instead of the mess they get? I remember seeing it at the Cambridge a few times, then on tour much later. Odd characters ‘similar’ to those in the film/tv show doing roughly the same things but not quite, when all you really want is someone to bust out ‘Life is a Celebration’ and ‘Hi-Fidelity’. Hell, I’d even welcome ‘Shoshoshoshorovsky’!

GET IN!!! It’s not bothering the South West so nobody I know need ever mention it or make excitable faux nostalgic suggestions.

It’s also doing Cardiff New Theatre which has been left out of the article for some reason. Not that I’ll be going! My friend played Lambchops in her school production which I enjoyed but the music was very forgettable and to me it seemed as if it had been written to be performed by teenagers as a school/amateur production.
