What was the context of this? Well we all know about the tweet Luke Baker made. Then, Layton commented on it with a laughing face emoji and something like “OMG Hahahaha. So funny” something really underhand and sly. Just really unnecessary. The whole situation was disgusting. I’m glad I think this show is a pile of crap. Hopefully it will close soon and something of actual quality goes in. What tweet?

The whole situation, actually, was a storm in a tea cup that people got far too worked up about without really knowing anything about it. I couldn't really understand people getting so worked up and offended on somebody's behalf that they didn't even know. The B word is used far too loosely.

This kind of thing should be highlighted and not brushed under the carpet. I never realised that bullying happened in, what seems like, a wonderfully accepting industry. But I reckon this kind of thing happens within casts all over, and it’s totally unacceptable. The more people say “oh it’s not a big deal”, the more people are normalising this kind of behaviour. It shouldn’t be ok. Personally, I’m shocked that Luke Baker is still working. Juvenile boy.

To cut a long story short, Luke Bayer is clearly very excited about the confirmation of DEH coming to the West End. And reposted a video clip of him singing “Waving Through a Window” and he never asked for all of the attention, but a lot of people started retweeting the video and saying how he’d be great in the role and he was very appreciative of all the messages. Not hurting a soul. Then, Luke Baker, who is in the same cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie as Bayer, made an indirect comment about the situation something along the lines of “Are auditions happening on Twitter now?” Very catty, very snide. Everyone knew who he was talking about. I think he was trying to, very underhandly, take the mick out of Bayer but he’s just ended up making himself look like a complete tit. I’m just disgusted that this kind of behaviour exists within a cast of a West End show?! They should be lifting each other up and supporting one another, right? Or if they can’t do that, just keep their mouths shut? Personally, I don’t believe someone who is that childish, deserves to work in such a prestigious place.

Because i'm pretty sure there wouldn't be anything in his contract that made him agree with everything his colleagues do, that's probably why he's still in a job. But i really think that with casting news and the show continuing to do well against expectation, there are more relevant things to be talking about on this thread rather than this from a month ago.

Again, you’re wrong. I reckon there’s absolutely a clause in his contract to not defame another cast member. I just can’t wrap my head around your response.

Do all of you get on with everyone you work with? probably not. But also we don't know the wider context. It could be all part of, what I believe the kids call 'Banter' between people who know each other better than we know any of them.
Also it's easy enough to put something in writing on social media that's either ill thought out or ill constructed. I don't think we should be naming Layton as a horrible person based on one reply to one tweet. Also that we should be crying for a show to close or people not get jobs because of it.

With cast changes I don't see a long run for this show. TBF I don't think it was ever destined to become the next Wicked or Phantom but I think it'll hit the 2 year mark.

Oh Layton will be fantastic, and great for him to have a lead part. I've followed him since his extraordinary solo in Matthew Bourne's Lord of the Flies, and various others, and what energy he had in Hairspray. A great performer.

Although I'm going to see it, I didn't realise that Layton Williams is appearing in Kiss Me, Kate at the world-famous Crucible Theatre over Christmas.
That runs until 12 January 2019, so I assume he'll be going from that, straight into rehearsals for this. I hope he's been able to take a proper holiday before Kate rehearsals start imminently!

And you have heard personally from Luke Bayer that he was offended by it, and that other Luke and Layton were being mean-spirited? And that other Luke was reprimanded? If not, why are you getting so worked up about it)

Do we think it’s fair that now Layton has been confirmed as Jamie that Luke Bayer is now not allowed to stay as a cover Jamie and is therefore apparently why he’s leaving? As according to the casting breakdown I’ve seen they would need to be Mixed Race / Black / African American in appearance now.

He does his job well, so he "deserves to work in such a prestigious place". What he says outside of his work is none of your business. If you're "disgusted" by a random tweet maybe you should re-evaluate your own priorities. You buy a ticket to a show, but all that entitles you to is one show, not an opinion on how actors lead their lives.

As according to the casting breakdown I’ve seen they would need to be Mixed Race / Black / African American in appearance now. I guess it's just the way it goes when the lead us a black actor and one of the parents is black, and in the show both parents make a point of saying they are natural parents, I can understand why they want only black performers in that role this go around. The only thing I hope doesn't happen is when Layton leaves and they cast a white guy, I hope the whole arguement of race doesn't come up for those who don't know the history of the show and it's casting. It should remain a universal role anyone can play, pending at least one of the parents match up. Seems like a big cast change, with John, Michelle, Luke, Shobna, Jordan and Ken confirmed as leaving so far.

Okay I managed to find the section of the webpage where it says Elaine Paige and I pressed on the previous/next buttons, which loaded other random celebrity/theatre names (Gok Wan, Jemima Rooper, David Morrisey, Courtney Act, and more) and then I checked what the title of that bit of the website is and it’s “seen at Jamie” so it was just that Elaine was at the show at some point as were all those other names so no Elaine playing the “mother” anytime soon! I would pay GOOD MONEY for David Morrisey to do it. "'E's MY BOYYY" in his strong northern burr. Plus he can kind of sing - Blackpool anyone??

Saw the matinee today I lost the lottery I never win anymore 😟..... box office although nice as usual wouldn’t sell any discount tickets this time ..... tkts had 69.50. Seats for around £43 .... so went for them strangely exactly the same seats as I paid £35 full price only 6 months ago ?? Is this the new dynamic pricing many theatres are dong now 5 th time seeing show including Sheffield .... and so difficult not to think of the amazing John as Jamie ..... but did my best .... and must say luke won me around in the end great vocals and some nice subtle differences in the character... but still prefer John . Shobna really settled and love her now , Margaret I’m sure I saw her once before .... although very good I did miss Josie she used to soar Really liked the new loco / Hugo they cut the Norma Desmond lines though No James Gillan ...... and I did miss him has he left or just off ?? Lucy was off for priti .... like the girl we saw very similar to Lucy gorgeous voice some of the comedy was lost though which was a shame ..... same with Jamie some of the one liners got lost Now miss visage .... well she did it her accent was all over the place and I think I’d have preferred her just in a USA accent .... she was ok and can sing she’s pretty new so once settled in may just give that little bit more All in all I enjoyed it but didn’t get that emotional connection like previous visits wasn’t blown away Mind you any chance to stare at Luke baker for 2 hours is worth it ❤️😋
