Saw the first preview tonight and loved it as much as in Sheffield. It actually made me laugh more than I remembered, some great one liners in the show. Has some very catchy songs which I ended up humming on the way home. Will definitely be going back later in the run.

I am wondering if the tunes are so catchy because I've heard them before though......He's My Boy definitely has a sound of Natural Woman about it! Start singing one and end up on the other 😂

£20 front row lottery announced! Also some side dress circle seats for first week down to just £10! Thanks for the heads up on those £10 dress circle seats. Grabbed one for Wed and it's not even restricted view so massive bargain. Plus love when you click on the seat it gives you a picture of the view. Well done Nimex too as the plan was showing 2 seats together and I thought it would never let me buy just one and it did. And no booking or transaction fee so I'm well chuffed. Great for you, alece10, but I looked for those £10 seats soon after Mark posted and I couldn't see a single one - let alone a pair! I was using the Nimax site, too, so don't know why.

The virtual preview of those £10 sears is false. The picture is taken further round the circle. I’ve sat in those seats before and they are only worth £10- you miss half the stage They hike them up to £49.50 for the run!! Daylight robbery.

I checked my seat for Young Frankenstein out on that virtual view during the interval, and the photo had clearly been taken from 2 seats along because it failed to show the pillar which restricted the view.

Well if that is the case I will be having words as there is no mention of restricted view on the seat I have bought. I clicked on a few other seats in the same area and they all said restricted view and the reason why restricted but nothing for mine so I am expecting a decent view. I know its only a tenner but you cant mislead people.

Wonderful show tonight. Enjoyed everything about it!
On seating: we got 2 £10 seats at the end of dress circle row A, but got upgraded to row B closer to the middle on the aisle - brilliant view & very good leg room.
The stage is high and the floor does have quite a lot of lighting effects. I wonder how far back in the stalls it is before they are easily seen?

Ooooo its a long one then! I thought it would be shorter considering based on the concept album, there isn't that many songs.

Don't forget that the theatre has just been re-seated and some rows and angles have changed, so the website hasn't caught up with them all. I did find that the view wasn't the same when I arrived - and the site has updated it since. Please tell me my cubbyhole is still there, otherwise I'm not going!

From the Sheffield production at least, there were at least 5 numbers/reprises that aren’t on the concept album. Should imagine there are a couple extra on top of that now too as I know they were rehearsing new numbers

I was talking about the Garrick. The Apollo still has its cubbyhole - if you mean the one by X6. Phew, that's a relief. And if you're going to talk about the Garrick, then may I respectfully suggest you do that in the Young Frankenstein thread. This is the Jamie thread

Excellent news. I had been hoping for these. Hate the lotteries and their insecurity.

According to their latest Instagram post, it looks like a new version of the concept album has been released featuring some of the new London songs. Available to buy from the theatre

It's absolutely great. Catchy score and a wonderful leading performance from John McCrea.
Loved loved loved "He's my boy"
The ending needs a bit of work, there seems to be two separate finales and it all just kind of fizzles at the end rather than the "big finish" you want.
Will definitely return to see it again post previews.

Does anyone have a song list or a cover list for the WE production?

I really enjoyed this last night. Good cast with some great performances. John McCrea was excellent. Some really nice songs, I cant actually remember any of the tunes this morning but if I heard them once or twice more then several would stick in my mind. Liked the staging, fairly simple but very effective and with the band at the back of the stage. Audience reaction was great and almost a full standing ovation. The show is in great shape considering it was only the 3rd preview.
If I was to be picky I would say that it could do with shaving 15 minutes off the show so that it came in about 2 hours 30mins. Also the opening numbers for both Act 1 and Act 2 which are mainly sung by the ensemble had me struggling to hear the words. Both songs were kind of "rappy" but diction was not very clear and I missed most of the lyrics. I also agree with Mark (above) about the ending. It is a bit messy and does need a big finish. As much as I want it to succeed as a new British musical, I think it will struggle after the initial interest from people who know/want to see it has died off. Even mainstream shows are struggling and this is my no means mainstream and could be a bit of a hard sell. I hope I am proved wrong though.

I thought it was just me [ with my poor hearing ] that couldn't make out the words. Agree about the ending. The songs are stuck in my head. Incidently the writer was up in the upper circle with 2 others making notes.

Incidently the writer was up in the upper circle with 2 others making notes. Same. I couldn’t hear a single lyric throughout. Overall I was very disappointed. The score isn’t great and I couldn’t hear the lead when he was singing most of the time, very weak vocally. I thought all of the humour fell completely flat. They have a lot of work to do to turn this around. I hope they are busy rehearsing and cutting every day. I liked the mother and her best friend though. Josie walker singing My Boy was the best thing about it. I’m glad I didn’t give in to my boyfriend who wanted to leave at the interval as I’d have missed that. Not bad, but could have been so much better. I think this will struggle to find an audience.

Also that bit of modern choreography during Josie Walkers act 1 solo was mortifying. CUT
