10 Downing Street have announced that there will be no bank holiday for the wedding. Bearing the number of recent U turns by Daisy May and her ensemble we can start to make plans for the street party. I'll bring the pork pies........

Congratulations to the pair of them. It's just nice to have some more positive news for a change and I hope they will be very happy together.

Someone at the BBC is letting their snarkiness show: "On another note, Twitter-shy US president Donald Trump has yet to offer his congratulations to the couple."

I feel in the minority, but I still love the younger generation of the Royal Family. Kate and Will are a beautiful couple who do alot of good and he will make a fabulous King. These two are equally beautiful. I'm happy for them. I don't think you are in the minority, to be honest. Most people seem to like the younger Royals - especially if you're old enough to remember the arse-ache their parents were creating for everyone at the same age! I know the tabloids like to complain about them, but I swear it's because they fail to provide salacious copy the way the previous generation did. The most they can be accused of is enjoying the odd night out, having a few too many holidays, and the odd poor choice in fancy-dress costumes. Edit: Good lord but the Gruan is wetting themselves over Megan Markle's racial heritage. Anyone would think it was some kind of revolution, instead of a relationship! It is quite a big deal.

I sadly found out that I'm uninterested. I've always been fascinated by royalty and nobility and I'm a fan of the Queen, but I really can't be bothered by these younger royals. Will and Kate, just a bit, as they're the future King and Queen. I'll still have a look to the wedding ceremony though. I can't resist that.

Being home sick (as in, sick while at home) I've seen a fair bit of telly today with Ms Markle who gave an interview in which she lambasted Trump. (2015?). And she loves dogs. Liking her more and more. Loved the interview, she spoke well, was articulate, genuine and funny. Big fan already.

Good for them.
Yes it is a big deal that she is divorced, mixed race, American amd Catholic but past mistakes in the family now mean couples can at least marry for love, rather than being pushed into an unsuitable match doomed to fail.
Harry is so like Charles in that interview, same mannerisms and everything. But let's not kid ourselves the younger Royals are 'just like us': they are eyewateringly wealthy, privileged and sheltered from real life. Meghan's engagement ring is worth about £40k.
No bank holiday either.

I think this is such a lovely story and I'm very happy for them. They make a beautiful couple and Meghan is so likeable and seems like such an interesting person. I loved her in Suits 😉
I don't mind the Royal Family as I think they do a lot for this country in terms of representing us in a positive light, and of course, doing wonders for the tourism industry.

I do get a bit tired of them trotting out all that “team” stuff. All the evidence would suggest that the royal family is anything but a team and that people are very much on their own or contained within the unit of their immediate close family. It also makes it sound like there’s some sort of business objective to the marriage “so much work to do/she’ll be part of the team/working together” etc. I mean, it’s nice to know that she’s not just going to throw her legs up on a chaise longue and eat bonbons all day but it all sounds a bit overly desperate to justify their existence. As someone above said, given her age it’s very likely that she’ll start producing babies very soon after the marriage and I have no problem with that, but the suggestion that she’s going to be a big player on the good causes circuit seems doubtful for the next few years at least.

I did love the insight that the Corgis love her! I know nothing about her (I've just started watching Suits but frankly haven't taken to it) but she seems lovely, and Harry has always been my favourite, so I hope they're happy.
Also I think that genuinely they'll do a lot of 'good work' together, Harry seems genuinely motivated in that area, and without the pressures of impending King-dom he's pretty free to do as he wishes in that respect. If the specualtion is correct that she'll give up the 'day job' to join him, and if Invictus is anything to go by, Harry and Megan may well do a lot of good charity wise.
Also I guess Harry isn't buying a Corgi any time soon haha

But of that list - divorced, mixed race, American and Catholic - she's not actually the first of any of them in the royal family. Our future King is a re-married divorcee. None of them are an issue now, in 2017, even if they were an issue in the past. It would be frankly very weird if anyone had raised objections to her because of any of those features.

Well really, the rest I can take but an American? I mean, pants go under trousers, they aren't the actual trouser. I hope she sorts that out right away and doesn't start talking about her fanny on royal walkabouts. It's a world gone mad.

Sorry to be a bit "bah humbug" about this but I am SO tired of this already! We will have to endure months of what she will wear, who's designing the dress, will the corgis be there etc. etc. etc.
Meanwhile more important issues (Brexit negotiations ?) get completely wiped from the news!

Yes, I nearly added that the 'American' part is probably the most controversial for the Royals! Even the fact that she is an actress is not unprecedented.

Meh, I'm over Brexit. Who is designing the frock though, that's the important question. She wouldn't dare go . . . *swallows bit of sick* . . . American would she? They've already taken our language and done heaven knows what kind of unspeakable things to it, if they think they can come back over on the Mayflower and start taking over our royal weddings there will be a riot I can guarantee it! I'll even make the ultimate sacrifice and stop watching 'Game of Thrones'.

Apparently Harry had made it clear he doesn't want the usual fruitcake at the reception but Prince Philip says he's going anyway.

How are they going to keep Fergie-Yorkie-Fergie away from this one? Send her on “holiday” again? I suppose the daughters will be allowed to go... remember that hat?

Well this is turning into a train crash isn’t it? I do like a royal wedding, but it’s a bit of a mess! I wonder if he really did have a heart attack or not... I give the press less than 24 hours until they find out the details (or not). You’ve got to feel sorry for her, I know she chose to marry Harry but I don’t think she realised quite the circus it would turn into.

What a horrible way to start a marriage, the poor girl. What with the sisters and the father all trying to cash in, her family sound hideous. I gather Mum is the exception, if so then she should walk her daughter down the aisle. That would make a positive statement in lots of ways.
