Phew, a whole star more than we managed to muster up enough enthusiasm for.

Thanks. WOS is being weird for me tonight. Lots of "timed out" messages.

They must be reading this thread. For instance This show looks absolutely atrocious. I am hoping that it is a case of it being so bad that it’s so good. It was obviously made to tour and visit the places in the country where this low level crap will appeal; Bradford, Sunderland, Southend; the real classy places of these British Isles.

General gist of the reviews seems to be that the script is great but the piecemeal nature of the score is a problem. Which sounds fair enough from the reports on here.

I was there on Monday night. Paul Whitehouse was off. I love the TV show but this just didn't work. It was as if they had got fans to list their most memorable bits & then stuffed them all in - or at least references to them. The new songs were dire. They appeared to want to give each character their own song & just stuffed them in randomly & yes programs are £10. The only good part was that the cast have obviously taken a lot of trouble studying the original actors & got their mannerisms to a tee.

Well, I loved this and couldn't care less what the critics have to say. It was great fun, and the people sitting around me seemed to be of the same opinion.
Of course, if someone didn't like the TV show there is absolutely no point in going along. It's not for them. But it was just a damn good laugh.
I did have a couple of criticisms, but fairly minor. Rodney, though played very well, was just far too young for the storylines they went with. We were watching apparently teenage Rodney do the marriage storyline, which was a bit weird. Also I wasn't keen on the 'jukebox' bits, which didn't fit with the original songs. Though I say that reluctantly, because 'Holding Back the Years' was sung so beautifully!
I do hope it goes out on tour whenever it's finished in the West End - a few people I know who can't make the London trip would love to see this.

Saw this last night - it was pretty funny throughout but the songs were pretty ordinary (I quite liked Cassandra's number and Boycie's and Marlene's rather ridiculous song). The cast were great - especially Tom Bennett, Ryan Hutton and Paul Whitehouse who were all very likeable - Oscar Conlon-Murray stole the show though with his different characters. This won't win awards but it was fun to watch.

Nicholas Lyndhurst at the Man of La Mancha launch said that he and Jason had no interest in reviving OFAH without John Sullivan's writing and due to death of many cast members, which could be taken as a dig at this but this sounds like it has no original writing in the book.

You’re entitled to your opinion on the show, no doubt there, but why you had to throw in an insult, against these towns and cities, is beyond me. Totally unnecessary .

To update: no day seats, no Friday policy for the foreseeable future. I assume that it’s selling so well they don’t need to do any of these?

I echo theatremonkey's sentiments. There's nothing wrong with Bradford or Sunderland.
