I blocked two people on here on my previous profile haha. They are currently unblocked to give them benefit of the doubt, but we'll see.

I thought you meant on here... Me also, I would have replied to you if I hadn't blocked you Fibber...! You wouldn't have seen my post if you'd blocked me! Seriously, I honestly thought the initial post was to guess which forum members had blocked you. (Have got through life without Twitter, facebook and the like up till now. And what's that other invasion of privacy...Linkdn? I can't be arsing about with all that.) I have to confess I've blocked several posters on here. I can't take the number of posts they rack up. It's started to feel like an extension of their personal blogs.

Emma Williams blocked me on Twitter due to a joke about her in Mrs Henderson when she said she'd done 100th show and I said it should be on at Bush Theatre.

I forgot my favourite, I was blocked for aparently multiple reasons but the nail in the coffin aparently was my support of a woman in the Tardis which aparently was indicative of my political views. It's actually indcative of the fact I just like to see really good actors get really good parts but hey ho. My Whovian self was pretty proud of that one.

Oh wow so I've just this morning been blocked by 'activist' author Roxane Gay for mildly criticising her wording in a tweet. Impressive.

I saw an ad for a TV show called something like "Celebrities face their trolls" or something. Apparently some celebs get masses of vile tweets and death threats etc. I couldn't help but feel the problem could be solved by a press of a button and delete their social media. Sorted. Clearly they need it though.....

Sadly, nobody famous (I'm a very polite stalker). A few right-wing politicians/journalists - and I am quite proud of that - one theatre critic (no idea why) and one theatre blogger, after we had an argument over Dylan winning Nobel Prize. That is all, I'm afraid.

How can you tell if anyone has blocked you on here? I've never blocked anyone on here myself so I'm not sure how it works.

I don't think you can see if someone has blocked you, but it's not the most rigorous blocking system. I've used it a time or two myself, and it still shows me that the person I've blocked has posted, it just hides their post from view (but I can bring it back by simply clicking a button), which... I appreciate the effort, but if I feel strongly enough about someone to block them (and I didn't even block parsley, so it is a STRONG feeling that would lead to a blocking) then I just don't want to see them at all, not just have their posts fractionally out of sight. I also think it's a shame that when I block someone it removes my seeing their posts but not their seeing my posts, unlike blocking people on any other social media, but hey.

I don't think you can really tell, unless you notice someone not replying to you constantly. Maybe if you try to message them too. Basically I don't know. I've blocked people in the past but I've tried to unlock them now. I don't want to know haha.

I just remembered I've been blocked by David Hunter. I never followed him so only found out when someone I do follow quoted one of his tweets (and I couldn't see said tweet). I don't know why he's blocked me - I don't think I ever tweeted him. The only reason I can think of is me tweeting a friend back in the days that I wasn't keen on David's portrayal of Guy in Once. I didn't tag him so if that is the reason he must be someone who actively searches for his name on Twitter.
I actually think David is wonderful in Kinky Boots and I wanted to tweet him to say how much I loved his performance. But I couldn't. Ah well.

Further to my temporary and experimental blocking of Dawnstar on this board, people may be interested to know that when you go to block a member, you are given the following four options: - Hide this member's posts. - Do not let this member start new conversations with me. - Do not let this member follow me or my activities. - Block notifications from this member. The second, third, and fourth options are automatically selected for you, the first one is automatically deselected, so there's an element of customisation there. I guess there's nothing stopping her from talking to me in a thread, but the power is mine to decide if I see it or not, and it looks like she wouldn't be able to send me a DM (unless, possibly, we had already started a DM conversation prior to the blocking?).

Also, for info., when you do block someone and choose to hide their posts, it doesn't work on Tapatalk. You don't get notifications but you still see the posts.

I found it useful - especially with someone like Parsley - because if I couldn't see what they said I didn't feel the need to respond to it, and therefore get dragged into a pointless argument. I mean, sometimes I would click on the 'show post' button and read anyway, but for some weird psychological reason the fact that I could hide it away again meant I didn't have to respond.

I am a fan of Emma's and have seen her in a number of roles, she used to reply to my tweets and I thought she might find that funny. I'd have never made a deliberately offensive joke about her being nude in Mrs Henderson. I heard one about two pairs of lips moving when she did her big number.

Clearly they need it though..... Some actors are contractually obligated to have social media, and large social media followings can absolutely get you roles, especially in America. Besides why should people have to forgo a highly beneficial social experience because of criminals? You may as well say women shouldn't go out clubbing or pubbing if they don't want to be abused. On the other hand some people are far too thin-skinned and call anything other than praise "trolling."

The Celebrity Trolling programme was very interesting, threats directly to a person or about their family are certainly out of order and should be blocked/reported.
But having Rebecca Adlington reading out tweets which was a quote that Frankie Boyle on a panel show was a bit old hat. Rebecca clearly had body issues when she was on I'm A Celeb and almost indirectly bullied Amy Willerton for being attractive. We all know that Rebecca at worse has a rather impressive nose and being a swimmer will get aquatic animal jokes etc.
In years gone by the likes of Esther Rantzen, Cilla Black, Bruce Forsyth, Jimmy Hill etc all had jokes about their prominent features and would often join in on the joke - Cilla always made reference to her nose job and teeth, Esther's teeth were often discussed by herself. Brucie and Jimmy's chins etc.
I suppose a bit of good humoured banter is different from being confronted by a total stranger about your looks.

I actually forgot to unblock you before going to eat (what can I say, I was RAVENOUS) so I guess if you didn't notice anything different on your return, then it is only the blocker who sees anything different and the blockee can carry on posting in blissful unawareness. Thanks for not being offended by my using you to experiment, and I'm unblocking you now.

I too feel I've missed something now. I have blocked a few on here largely because I get fed up arguing with them constantly. I will sometimes sneak a peak at their posts if doing so helps to make sense of a discussion. Twitter wise I've been blocked by Cynthia but I believe thats a badge of honour

Is there an easy way to find out who has blocked you?
The only one I know about is Jason Mohammed, the BBC sports commentator. He blocked me on Twitter, although I have no idea why. I've never interacted or talked to him, or talked about him or mentioned him or anything. I do watch a lot of snooker, which he sometimes presents, so I can only assume I've expressed a snooker opinion which he disapproves of, but I can't imagine what. Jason Mohammed has absolutely zero importance or meaning in my life. I only found out he blocked me because a snooker player retweeted something he tweeted, and I couldn't see it, and got the blocked message.

Tom Bateman. Something to do with a restraining order I think . . . . The opposite of blocking - he once held a door open for me!
