I saw it in Chichester and it was a disaster. Even Cameron hated it! David? I'd have thought a show based around a man managing a group of circus performers would have rang pretty true for him.

I'd forgotten that man ever existed.

Bookings opened today for this for those paying >= £250 to the Menier's membership scheme. Still no indication of cast. Do the booking elites get a heads up as to cast, or do they book blind?

Does anyone know the ticket prices yet please? £42.50 standard seats, £49.50 premier seats. Just a couple of pounds off those prices for previews. Seating is in the round.

I've said it before and I'll say it again the prices are a disgrace..... sure they do sweet show but it's ultimately a downstairs grubby fringe theatre still. Works out cheaper to see a transfer!

Those are just the early bird prices. They go up after 20th September and increase again after 25th November!

I'm not too bothered about this myself but it is the first show my grandparents took my mum to see as a child in the West End when Michael Crawford was in it. I thought it would be a nice Christmas present for them all but I am put off slightly by the prices given I have to buy 6 tickets!

Far from favourite show (although the production at Manchester Opera House with Paul Nicholas in was breathtaking - I was a teenager and I haven't seen much theatre at that point ... ) This production could be fun, close up and in the round.
I can justify 42 squid for this

I hate those bench seats too where people inevitably encroach into your space. They just try and cram too many people on. The last time I went the person sat next to me was half sat on my space when I arrived and very huffily moved over. You wouldn't mind for £15-£20 but for over £40 I do at least expect a seat to myself! It will take more than this show to get me to the Menier again unless they cast someone awesome!

Last time I went, I made sure I was positioned precisely on my own seat when I sat down. I didn't bother going anywhere at the interval and stayed exactly where I had been seated for the entire duration so far, only for the woman next to me to passive-aggressively not-quite-accuse me of shifting into her space when she came back towards the end of the interval. Sorry lady, but if you have less space now than you had before, then perhaps you need to look to your manspreading husband for the answer to this mystery...

Saw the seating plan yesterday. As someone mentioned earlier it's in the round and 3 to 4 rows of seats only. So up close

Can anyone help me with this please - I can see there are concession seats but can't find out anywhere who counts as a concession! Presumably OAPs are? Thanks

My laptop may be having a bad day as couldn't find it on the website or by Googling and that link doesn't say anything about concessions when I click on it, how strange! In any event thank you very much for your help I've now booked Never seen Barnum before so interested to see what it's like.

Oh weird, I see it's not working. Never mind, it's under "About Us" then "Access / Concessions" (then right at the bottom 'cos the page is ALL about access with concessions only coming in really at the end).

Note to all - always just book concession seats. No one ever has time to check! I've done that for years now. People are too busy!

No chance am I booking at £42.50. I'm waiting for an inevitable casting that I love and will immediately regret not booking.

You seem to be saying you're not strictly entitled to the concession seats, so either your avatar is a filthy lie or you... well, sorry to say, aren't looking that great for someone who is younger than 65. Either way, I hope no one takes your advice, 'cos it's pretty damn classless to be taking a concession seat that's designed for someone who needs it, and there's only a £3 saving from a standard seat if you book now, so it's not like it's the difference between being able to afford a show at all or having to miss out all together (and if £3 really does make *that* much difference, please - for your own financial security - reconsider whether you need to be spending ~£40 on a theatre ticket at all).

Note to all - always just book concession seats. No one ever has time to check! I've done that for years now. People are too busy! wendy, I always enjoy your posts. I like the way they're direct, and they have that no-nonsense approach. You very often say what many of us would like to but don't, and a lot of the time I'm with you. BUT sorry, I'm not with you on this one... Many of us claim concession prices for all sorts of reasons, and we rely on the fact that most of you don't abuse the systems in place. Because if the systems become abused, it is us who will lose out in the end when they stop concessions altogether. If this were to happen, my theatre-going days would be over. Many individual theatres and an increasing number of the larger theatre groups and organisations are now putting measures in place to ensure that those of you who really aren't entitled can't take advantage. And those of us who are will soon be able to enjoy new privileges like booking online to claim our discount which is something most theatres won't allow unless they already have a registration procedure in place. At the moment most will only allow us to book by 'phone. Can you imagine having to call the theatre each time you want to go... hours waiting, calling an expensive number to wait for an operator who never seems to answer...and all the while listening to someone like Marti Webb belt out Take That Look Off Your Face, sometimes five, six times over? I'm not joking... So please, don't abuse it and spoil it for some of us who really do need a discount or have specific seating needs. I agree with you that the Menier has become ridicuously overpriced in recent years. I used to go to loads of their stuff. But now I don't want to pay their prices, and with a half-hearted nod to concession prices (what is it, a couple of quid off top price?) I stay away. As you've said yourself in the past, it works out cheaper to go once the show has transferred to the West End! And you're better off in the westendwendy!
