Had the pleasure of seeing the last matinee of this show's run today - an utterly charming show with a lovely score, a glorious cast and enough heart to make you feel like you're being hugged as you leave the theatre. I thought it did a great job of showing how difficult social interaction can be for some people but there there really is someone for everyone. I just thought it was lovely.
Also, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but as I left, I heard the girl on the sound desk say into her walkie talkie, 'I'm just going to run up to the production office and see how that recording sounded'. It may obviously mean nothing, but maybe if we all cross our fingers we might get that cast recording after all 😁

It could just be a soundboard recording for archival purposes.

It could just be a soundboard recording for archival purposes. Very true. I admittedly know nothing about theatre recording practices 😕

It could just be a soundboard recording for archival purposes. Very true. I admittedly know nothing about theatre recording practices 😕 Most shows multi-track record each show these days. It's really easily done with the digital desks (mostly Digico) and has multiple uses. Firstly it's handy for new operators to come in and learn the show without the cast having to re-rehearse constantly. It also serves as a facility for directors and designers to go back to and see how scenes/cast sound. Granted not too useful after the penultimate show, but could just be routine post show to check the recording in this instance.

I still think about this show so often- how I’m gutted I had so many things come up and stop me from seeing this. With the Garrick now clearing out, a nice small-ish house, and some voices on twitter saying they’ve heard bits and bobs. Do we think it’ll come back?
God I have everything crossed!!!

I'm desperate for this to come back too. I'm wondering if it would be a good fit in the Empire Cinema where Brief Encounter currently is?

The announcement of the new SWP season must be imminent, maybe there will be news then.

God this news has cheered me up! I think I'm more excited by the slim chance of seeing this again than I was for Hamilton. It just looks so perfect.

Seems like this is very unlikely to have another life now. Sad times, was there ever discussion of a transfer? Such a shame!!!
Feel like it could have a little run at Trafalgar Studios or even the Ambassadors come spring time.
Oh well!! You win some, you lose some!

Dominion?!? In all serious, I'm really hoping that it makes a return. By the time I got wind of it and how good it was it was all sold out.

Article seems to suggest RA is confirmed for going ahead, the Twitter seems like they want to add more to the announcement.. Other than Rice directing what more could be coming? Tour?

I wonder how this will work with the Globe's involvement... Obviously they staged and presumably paid for the first run but they may not be so keen to be associated with Emma Rice any more. Will they want billing/profits from a West end run or a tour?

The article was a bit vague and confusing actually, took me about 3 read throughs and some googling to properly understand where it was going 😂

Just seen that this is being revived - at the Bristol Old Vic (Jan/Feb) and then on to the US. Would love to see this again.

Thanks for the info, think there's going to have to be a trip to Bristol to see that, I loved this musical so much.
Odd seeing a picture with a different Jean-René on the website, however I'm sure I'll enjoy it whoever is in it.

I’ve been desperate for this to come back! But not desperate enough that I’ll travel to Bristol to see it. Fingers crossed it makes its way to London again!

It's literally less than 2 hours on a train to Bristol! I think I’m spoilt by living in zone 1! I couldn’t imagine doing a 6+ hour trip (including return trains, travel to and from the train stations at either end and seeing the show itself) and an additional £40 in travel costs to see a show, no matter how much I wanted to see it!
