Oh I love Oklahoma! It was one of two school musicals I did in 2012 I believe, it was so much fun! May have to catch this! Also, I played the Sheriff so not a main role at all as I asked to have a small role as I was doing my A Levels alongside it, including my A Level Theatre performance and a performance of Oklahoma! the same day. But I kept getting told off throughout rehearsals and during the week for stealing focus with my twenty lines in the whole 3 hour thing. I got my own bow though, so that was my moment!

I just wish they'd say who the cast are before booking opens but I'm not sure they will, as they haven't for some of the previous John Wilson Proms. Given the ticket prices are up to £70 I'd like to know who I might be seeing if I'm lucky enough to maange to get a ticket.
It's interesting to see that John Wilson is also conducting Vaughan William's Ninth Symphony & Holst's Planets at hte Proms this year. He's gradually becoming known for more "serious" rep as well as the film music & musicals.

But the main area for me is performance! And I did my dissertation on musical theatre!

And I did my dissertation on musical theatre! Of course! 😜 That sounds really great though - I hope it all works out the way you want it to!

I hope this is televised as I dislike the RAH, I'm trying to save money and don't fancy the cheap seats or standing ... moan, moan, moan

I would be very surprised if this is televised. None of the prior semi staged musicals (My Fair Lady, Fiddler On The Roof) at the proms were.

Ah yes, I forgot Richard Rodgers wrote Oklahoma! all on his own... There's a story that the respective wives of R&H were at a party. Both were called Dorothy btw. Someone talking to them said "How lovely to be chatting with the wives of the writers of (lets say) Oklahoma!" Where upon Mrs Hammerstein points out "My husband wrote Oklahoma, her husband wrote DA-da,da,da..." (Probably apocrahly and a bit hard on Mrs H.) I wish I could be there, NOTHING compares to the visceral thrill of that title no. No record or film can capture the live feeling.

I will definitely get tickets but, according to the prospectus, it has a slightly frightening running time of three and a half hours!

Registered my card details and will be sitting in front of my laptop on the 13th May when they go on sale, but it will be touch and go as the J Wilson proms always sell out so quickly.
