Thats slightly concerning when usually Broadway audiences are percieved to be the more hysterical ones. Hmmm..I don't know if I agree with this - Broadway audiences on the whole are 'looser', i.e. your general public will give more feedback over there than they would over here. But West End fandoms are a league of their own. The crazy, persistent obsession, unapologetically in your face with their admission of obsession, devotion and love for an actor/actress/show to the person in questions' face - that's definitely reserved by the fans over here IMO. Thinking about jersey Boys and Wicked fans, in particular. And Joe McEldery's fans.....

Forgot to say, I loved the reaction last Sunday when Carla said 'yeah you said that already,' after El Piragüero sang 'it's hotter than the islands are today' in the Piragua (Reprise).

Lin-Manuel Miranda, Playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes Want to Pull 'In the Heights' From Weinstein Co.'In the Heights' deserves a fresh start in a studio where I'll feel safe," Hudes wrote in a Twitter post that was quickly endorsed by Miranda. Amid the growing Harvey Weinstein scandal, Lin-Manuel-Miranda and playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes are calling on The Weinstein Co. to let them take the film adaptation of their Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights elsewhere. "In the Heights is part of my heart and soul. I created it with respect, community and solidarity. I hope The Weinstein Co. has enough grace, in the wake of these revelations, to respect my stand as a woman, and to allow us to extricate In the Heights from them. In the Heights deserves a fresh start in a studio where I'll feel safe (as will my actors and collaborators)," Hudes said Thursday on Twitter. Jon M. Chu is directing the film, which is currently in development. Not long after, Miranda weighed in on his Twitter feed, writing, "As usual, Quiara does the prose best. She speaks for us both." Their plea underscores the perilous position TWC finds itself in, even with Weinstein terminated from the company. Insiders say numerous parties who have movies and television shows at TWC are worried that the venture is tarnished beyond repair following publication of stories in The New York Times and The New Yorker detailing allegations of sexual assault, rape and sexual harassment on the part of the larger-than-life mogul. Hoping to allay concerns, TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein, Harvey's brother, and president/COO David Glasser are mulling a name change and have granted permission to multiple TV networks to remove the disgraced executive's name from credits. Elsewhere, Apple ditched plans for a four-show deal with TWC that included scripted miniseries about Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Prince and Frank Sinatra, while Amazon Studios is reviewing its options regarding two high-profile TWC series, The Romanoffs and an untitled drama from David O. Russell. "As a woman, I can no longer do business with The Weinstein Company. To those women who suffered directly at Harvey’s hands, I extend my sincerest compassion and support," Hudes wrote. "Harvey Weinstein’s sexual predation is despicable enough, but combined with his staggering power, it’s insidious, even devilish. Decades. He thrived on this. He built an empire on this. It’s been hard for me to sleep at night. My stomach is in knots." She continued, "Harvey did not act alone. He had powerful enablers in his community and at the top tier of the criminal justice system. I hope there is an ethical investigation into Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance’s role in enabling Harvey Weinstein's [alleged] illegal behavior." In regards to Cyrus Vance Jr., Hudes is referring to a 2015 case in which Italian model and aspiring actress Ambra Battilana Gutierrez went to the police after an encounter with Weinstein. The D.A.'s office ultimately declined to bring charges. According to a recent report in the International Business Times, David Boies, a longtime Weinstein confidante, later donated $10,000 to Vance, an elected official. Hudes wrote the book upon which Miranda's acclaimed musical In the Heights is based. She and Miranda have long been plotting a film adaptation, with TWC picking up the project in May 2016. Earlier in the week, Miranda joined the chorus of talent speaking out against Weinstein. "I'm as appalled and repulsed by the Weinstein news as anyone with a beating heart," the Hamilton creator tweeted Tuesday. "And forever in awe of the bravery of those who spoke out." Sources say TWC is almost sure to delay the release of The Current War (Nov. 24), an industrial-age drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch — who likewise has lambasted Weinstein — as Thomas Edison and Michael Shannon as George Westinghouse. On Jan. 2, TWC is schedule to release Paddington 2, followed by The Upside (March 9) and Mary Magdalene (March 30). TWC did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.

I miss this show! Any one know if a tour is in the works? a tour was in the works, along with a return London run (not sure if "traditional" West End house or somewhere like The Other Palace) but the latest update that I had was that it's been put on hold for now whilst Hamilton settles in, I assume so that they can ultimately cash in on the Lin hype if/when they do decide to tour ITH.

She really was the better of the two Nina's, I'm so glad she got to take over fairly early into the run. God bless Lily, but she really wasn't great when I saw her, it wasn't a patch on Gabriela's performance.

I don't know what happened to Lily but she was outstanding when i saw here earlier in the shows run. I was sat amongst a group who i assume were all from a drama school or such, and along with myself, were all talking about her and how she was the star of the show and had an amazing voice. I don't really understand what happened for her to suddenly be getting such bad reviews.
But then again honestly i saw or heard no issue with her in Dreamgirls? And what little she sang in Dreamgirls didn't sound wildly different to how she sounded to me in In The Heights? So the negativity in that role i didn't understand really either.
I do think she has quite a distinct style of voice and tone which maybe doesn't suit everybody?

Amd what little she sang in Dreamgirls didn't sound wildly different to how she sounded to me in In The Heights? I do think she has quite a distinct style of voice and tone which maybe doesn't suit everybody? I saw her the week (or maybe two weeks) before she left and it was a passable performance at best. Her voice was in bad shape and she didn't seem to want to be there in all honesty, very much just going through the motions. But I'd heard she was ill just before she left and the amount of shows she missed may of contributed to her early departure (rumour, unconfirmed haha). But yeah, she wasn't great, at all. And leaving and seeing the response on here to her left me utterly confused as to what the hell others saw in her performance that I didn't! That said, I thought she was amazing in Cats, and I am one of the apparent few who liked her in Dreamgirls. I thought she sounded good, looked amazing and was consistantly on form. So considering I thought more of her in that tiny role compared to In the Heights, you can imagine how much of a dissapointment she was for me.

This was the first show I saw in London. I travelled all the way down on the megabus by myself. It was pretty magic to me - I was so devastated when it closed. Please bring it back in a proper theatre for a few more months.

I too thought Lily was fantastic in In The Heights, her voice was gorgeous. Didn't enjoy her anywhere near as much in Dreamgirls, and actually started doubting it was the same person!

Just kidding of course, I don't wanna sound like that person in the Wicked thread. Everyone has their own opinion. Victoria for me, then Philippa Basically the whole cast was incredible and the ensemble really was one of the strongest I can remember. Like, almost all of them covered a main role (some covered several) at some point.

I only saw Philippa.

Sorry to anyone seeing this thread re-appear and thinking there is some news about the show!
Does anyone have, or know a potential lead to, an In The Heights poster from the Kings Cross Theatre (the standard West End poster size)?
Would really like to get hold of one if possible!
