I was at his show tonight at the Liverpool Empire. An absolutely fantastic night out at the theatre. Tim and his band did not disappoint in the slightest. With a runtime of 2.5hrs including the interval, time just flew by with his various stories and musical numbers. I was hoping that at some point during the evening he might do a number or two from Matilda or GroundHog Day along with his comedy songs so when he started singing “When I Grow Up” that made my night.
From what Tim was saying tonight, a large amount of cash has been raised for charity from those individuals who purchased the premium tickets across the UK tour.
A big shout out to the BSL lady tonight who had the great task of doing the sign language for the entire night. She certainly seemed to be enjoying herself and was butt of a couple of jokes from Tim.
As an aside, anybody wanting to buy a programme they are £12 each. Other merchandise such a T Shirts and mugs were also on sale tonight.

Saw this in Oxford - now, I know Matilda but never seen it, however Groundhog Day was a complete delight for me and did a repeat viewing - 5 times .... Tim said at Oxford he hit a very low point when Groundhog Day flopped on Broadway and an animated movie he'd been working on was pulled when the studio was bought out. I wanted to leap up and say GROUNDHOG DAY WAS SUPERB! Goddamit. Every song he did, every story he told, was new to me. If This Plane Goes Down was a favourite (Groundhog Day-esk). Came across as a really very decent bloke. And plugged his new TV series airing on Sky later this month (28 November 2019) - Tim Minchin and newcomer Milly Alcock in a sharp-tongued and touching comedy drama set on a 4,000km road trip from Sydney to Perth with a piano in tow. www.timminchin.com/2019/10/03/all-episodes-of-upright-will-be-available-in-the-uk-28th-november-and-in-australia-1st-december/
