It's incredible that, if Viola and Denzel, who are two favourites in their category win, three of the four acting catagories will be won by people of colour! Just incredible!

Now Costume Design... whilst the Costumes were beautiful in La La Land, I'd guess Jackie to win. Could La La Land lose its first now?

Wow... La La Land loses its first one to Coleen Atwood, and also Fantastic Beasts becomes the first Harry Potter-related film to ever win an Oscar!

I saw a lot of people predicting Jackie to win that. Interesting winner. She looked bewildered.

Very surprised by that one. Same, I would of guessed La La Land or Jackie for the win! But still, again, well deserved, the costumes in Fantastic Beasts were brilliant!

Sounds from the pre show chat like theres plenty of La La hate to cancel that out. Still think itll end the night with 3 or 4 though

Still think itll end the night with 3 or 4 though I heard that too, a lot of people have now been saying it doesn't deserve all the wins because no film does haha. I imagine 8-10. I don't think it will lose more than it wins!

Oooooo Lin Manuel is up next!
If La La Land loses the two sound categories coming up, it will have no chance of breaking the record.

Fair point. I have to say I found it quite a bland film.

Wow, that was beautiful! She is a beautiful singer, and the staging of the number was stunning with the silks moving as waves! I must admit, I did have a slight chuckle when she accidently got hit in the head with one Lin didn't do much at all, just about three lines of monologue at the start. It felt a bit like they just threw him onstage because he is famous now rather than for any real reason.

Not a great vocal, probably due to nerves. Loved the wafty dancing!! Did one of them clip her as they went past??
Not heard the song before but you can tell Lin-Manuel was involved!

Notably, if Kevin O'Connell loses Sound Mixing for Hacksaw Ridge, he has lost in this category 22 times!

La La Land isn't breaking the record tonight then. It will have to win every, single award from now on to break the record of 11 wins!

I'm actually thrilled that thus far a mix of films are winning rather than just one or two! Supporting Actress next, a lock pretty much for Viola. If anyone upsets (which won't happen) it will be Michelle Williams.
