Monday is one of her actual set days off (whatever that means anymore!) so I guess we'll see if she's back tonight! Extremely poor attendance from her I must admit. Really unproffesional from her, people are expecting to see her As well as Monkey's very valid point about Amber's pneumonia at the beginning of the run (which, if I remember correctly, someone said could take 6 months to recover from.....that's if you're not playing Effie White, for crying out loud!), but also if you look towards the bottom of page 186 of this thread, you'll see an instagram post from Amber that also may account for her absence, with a reason that is far more important than doing a show. I'd always steer well clear of making harsh assumptions about a someone/something and branding people "unprofessional" if you've absolutely no idea of the full context of the story.

Really unproffesional from her, people are expecting to see her She's been ill and clearly recently lost someone very close to her, so I think your post is extremely distasteful and entirely lacking in empathy. Maybe think a bit more and actually bother to investigate the situation properly before you jump to criticise next time, as it doesn't reflect well on you at all. And I'm not going to start this debate again as it's already been had several times, but the simple fact is that people are responsible for managing their own expectations and if they've got a heightened sense of entitlement then it's their own fault as far as I'm concerned. Their ticket guarantees them the show, not Amber.

But your purely speculating over her health no facts, she was sick but we don't know if she has recovered , again speculation. We don't even know why she is off, only speculation so mabye your being distasteful ?

We do know she hasn't recovered....because you don't just magically recover from what she had and thinks instantly go back to being hunky dory. It takes months to fully get over it, especially when your job is belting out songs.
I'd probably suggest this partly comes from a place of you rather liking one of the alternates....

I love amber as Effie White however it's not right for the paying costumer who wants to see her to get no answer whatsoever over where she is, newsflash people 99% of the time go to see the leads.

This may well be the case, but you have no legal right to see anyone from a cast and your lack of respect for performers is very telling.

I can't speak for the other 7,000 or so people who see Dreamgirls each week, but I know I'd rather see a healthy alternate than a poorly Amber with no voice.

Why am I getting attacked as being a bad person when all I am doing is voicing my opinion??

Mystic Burly *curtseys* said from the start she wouldn't finish the run.
The reason is irrelevant. I just knew she wouldn't.
No running down the strand in my undercrackers for this one!

It is a fact that pneumonia is an illness that takes a significant amount of time to regain full health even when a person's job isn't singing a challenging musical theatre score 5 days out of 7. It is a fact that Amber had recently lost someone very close and dear to her - see her own Instagram for that one. You have nothing to prove that she is fully recovered, and your claim that people are entitled to see her is just plain wrong as a matter of fact - this isn't Broadway, there's no concept of over the title refunds as a general rule (and Amber isn't over the title in any event). It doesn't take much to give someone the benefit of the doubt rather than jumping to conclusions that allow you to criticise that person. Unfortunately your post did the latter.

I think it is something that was always inevitable. And it very much seems as though they are slowly bringing Marisha in to take over rather than do so in November. Marisha does pretty much every performance Amber doesn't bar when Karen was initally contracted to do so.
It doesn't bother me really, i've had no desire to see Amber really at all. Especially since apparently Marisha is better in the role as an actress which I always prefer. And I've had friends who have seen Amber out and about in London shopping and looking fine when she was due to be on, so I've been giving her the side-eye for a long while.

Are you an expert? What makes you qualified to make you 'right' about this so called investigation I didn't say anything about right or wrong, I'm talking about the distinction between fact and opinion, and between accurate facts and inaccurate ones. All I've done is correct broad assumptions and inaccurate claims in your posts, and all it takes to do that is 5 minutes of time, the ability to read the thread and Instagram and an ok memory. No expert knowledge whatsoever. Anyway, this whole exchange is going nowhere and you're just getting defensive so I'm out. All I asked was for you to have a bit of empathy for Amber and check your claims are right before you post. If you don't want to do that then that's up to you, but if you don't then I don't see how you can be surprised to be challenged on them.

All I'll say about that, as someone who for a long time managed to fool people into thinking I was fine when I really wasn't, is that it'a a very dangerous game to judge people at face value alone. No-one knows what's going on inside her head or in her life (except to the extent she chooses to share on social media). I do think you're right about Marisha though.

I think everyone who's seen Amber live will agree with me thaf even if she isn't the best actress, she puts everything into every performance, goes completely all out. The "And I Am Telling You" I heard from her when I went in April was as fierce and belty and strong as the one on the cast recording (which would obviously been her best shot), the only difference was she didn't sing the "I know you CAN" high. My point is, why would someone who puts so much effort into all her performances be so half-arsed about turning up for shows like "nah m8, not feeling it today". Which is why I think it must be a combination of her still getting over her pneumonia and the loss of her friend. I do think the producers are at fault though, as usual with Sonia Freidman stuff it seems. They really need to release a statement explaining Amber's abscene because not everyone who didn't see Amber is going to go check her instagram and see that she lost a dear friend. People aren't entitled to see Amber but I think they're entitled to know what's going on so we don't get people bashing Amber and so that people can exchange tickets for a later date with ATG if they're really desperate to see Amber.

Oh I know she gives it her all. I have no doubt she does. I just personally prefer someone who can act the hell outta it as well as sing. Just my personal preference.
I agree, they are going to have to say something eventually. Because if she is expected to be here until November 18th (which ATG has consistently said on the website since it was announced), its not really fair for those who are desperate to see Amber.
That being said, I've been twice, both when Amber was scheduled to be on but Marisha has been on both times. No complaints, feel free to take over girl.

Have noticed also that they're removing as many references to Amber as they can - the main page of the website used to feature the line 'Amber Riley (Glee) plays Effie White' in the paragraph about the show and Casey Nicholaw, but this has been removed (wisely) with the most recent update. I would be surprised if Amber was used at events and performances to promote this show now, since she is scheduled to be doing just over half the shows anyway, and is off in November anyway (if she stays that long, which I personally doubt )

Big overhaul on the website... Marisha and Karen have been changed once again to Effie White (at certain performances), both have been put ahead of Liisi and Asmeret on the list of cast. Also, new production photos of both Karen and Marisha in One Night Only mode, as well as Asmeret in any any photos with the three girls or Lorrell, which have been re-done! Joshua Liburd has also been added into photos, Tyrone coming back seems even less likely now. www.dreamgirlswestend.com/images/
