So RSC and NT both have Antony and Cleopatra? At the same time?

So RSC and NT both have Antony and Cleopatra? At the same time? Yes. No. This is very old news. RSC is this year, March to September in Stratford (and, I suppose, possibly autumn in London but not yet announced). The NT is spring 2018.

Oh, so Baz is tweeting NT spoilers. Wanker! I assume he has permission of some sort, or he was given information from a leak. I doubt he would be breaking an embargoed press release. In Nov, a new stage version of the film Network, directed by Lee Hall

No, adapted by Lee Hall (according to Baz). EDIT: And (according to Baz) it's on at the NT in November but Ivo van Hove is directing it there in December. Quite innovative of the NT to present a show in one month and then get a director to direct it a month later.

Now, what were we saying the other day on the Angels in America thread about the NT's obsession with the USA? ...

Cranston is a good choice for the main role of Network. It's a shame All the Way never came to the West End

There's more stuff to come from the NT that Baz hasn't already spoiled, so it'll still be worth tuning in for the announcement, I promise.

Yes, presumably there will be something else on in June in the Olivier besides Salome, and something else in the Lyttelton besides the handful of performances of Angels in America, and so far I don't believe anything has been announced. Right?

Right? Last autumn they announced Common in the Olivier for that slot. Yes, the Lyttelton then is still to be revealed. I predict that it will be American, as is the bias of NT programming.

I just think with the thousands of plays out there is there a real pressing need to adapt Network? Or is the national so desperate for bums? We will be getting two film adaptations in the same theatre a month apart.....

We will be getting two film adaptations in the same theatre a month apart..... Two American film adaptations. To follow three American plays ( Ugly Lies the Bone, Millennium Approaches, Perestroika), one American musical ( Follies) and whatever other American shows are to be announced this morning. I wouldn't be surprised to see them announce a transfer to the Lyttelton of Long Day's Journey into Night which will tick three NT boxes, being: 1) an American play, 2) a transfer from Bristol Old Vic, and 3) directed by former NT Director Richard Eyre.
