Exciting. Love Hope Mill, it's almost like having the Southwark Playhouse in my backyard:) Yank! Sounds interesting too but not sure about the title. it sounds more gay porn than gay musical. It must be the exclamation mark, I wonder how long it took them to come up with that?

I love an exclamation mark. I can't think of a musical whose name wouldn't be hugely improved by one.
Les Miserables! Wicked! Hamilton!
See? It works every single time.
Anyway back to Pippin(!). I wonder if we're getting the circus theme or if they're taking it in yet another direction? Agree about the Hope Mill being our very own Southwark Playhouse, I love it.

I'd love to see this but it's a bit too far from my corner of the sky.

Love the venue, love the art work, love the idea of the plot (never seen the show)so what's not to like. I shall buy me a ticket!

So, this previews on 23rd August and as was the case with Yank! I'm amazed that these small venues get the show on with little more than 3 weeks of rehearsal. I'd need three months! For one song!!!!
High hopes for this, love the Broadway revival cast recording. Im thinking they'll go back to the original "troupe of players" concept which seems more feasible for a small space, but who knows, they might do something completely new with it?

what are the chances of a London transfer? Um, possibly a question for after we've seen it? Aria/Hope Mill doing well lately though...

Whereabouts in Manchester is Hope Mill? Is it easy to get to from the city centre?
Very interested in this. I seem to be on something of a Stephen Schwartz kick at the moment.

It's in Ancoats, one stop on the tram from Piccadilly train station to New Islington then a 2 minute walk. Or a 15 minute walk from Piccadilly, or 5 mins in a cab from Piccadilly. If you decide to go, let us know and we can give you more details

The theme they're going for is a troupe of Vaudeville performers.

I'm looking to drive here to watch a Sunday show - is theatre easy to get too or do I have to compete for road space with the trams - which quite frankly terrifies me 😱?

We usually go to a Sunday show. Just avoid a day when Man City are at home as car park and roads nearby get full. Otherwise it's a pretty easy drive, tram tracks not too troublesome. Small car park for Hope Mill but if you get there an hour before you'll be fine usually. Its a lovely place with great people. Enjoy the bar

They're doing a numbered token system for getting people seated now (I suggested this on Facebook so I'm totally taking the credit for it, just as I'm solely responsible for the SWP going to allocated seating because I emailed them, once 😬) so getting there nice and early has its advantages. When you arrive go to the bar and they'll tick you off their list and give you your token.

Some interesting stuff about Hope Mill in this interview with producer Katy Lipson - including her saying that she hopes to be able to transfer Pippin to London as she has with both Yank! and Hair bit.ly/2wnVuUp
