Oh wow... so we should also expect her to be Mary Poppins lol, as she is going back to the shows she was in as a child! At least this will give her more experience of being a leading lady!

You've forgotten to factor in the Lee and Carrie fans who aren't crazy (who, I would guess, are very much in the majority, but people see the behaviour of a minority and decide they must all be like that), and of course, the many members of the audience who won't be fans of either, but will just be there to see the show.

Yeah a lot of people may be ok but it doesn't take many super fans to ruining an experience for everyone else. I've witnessed some truly appalling & vicious behaviour from both sets of fans both inside & outside the theatre and them combined isn't something I relish. Hoping the fact it is a regional show will lessen the amount that all congregate in one place lol

Since Lee has not been on stage for a few years you are overreacting a bit. And I have never seen "superfan" behavior when he was in a show. What exactly is it?

You've been lucky if that's the case. Lots and lots of actors have superfans. Symptoms include over-the-top laughing at jokes (I don't mean a hearty laugh, I mean a clearly put-on laugh), loitering round the stage door, asking for a million photos/autographs, whooping with disregard for the rest of the audience/at inappropriate points... and harassing on Twitter (though that's less relevantto this convo). I'm afraid Lee does have fans like this, but so do a lot of people. It's not always an issue.
Potts is hardly a role to get the pulse racing though so lets pray that whooping/wolf whistling etc are kept to a minimum!

Superfans are the sort of fans who are less concerned with watching the show than they are with making sure everyone around them knows how much of a fan they are.

I went to a Michael Ball concert many years ago and got some returned tickets from the fan club which were in the front section of the theatre. Before he actually came on, a lady asked me if I was in the fan club because this was THEIR section and Michael liked his fans to stand up and dance more or less all the way through the show. I am a huge MB fan but didn't like being told how I should act by his Ballettes as I believe they are called.

Carrie tweeted that she tweeted on the day she got the role- the screenshot of it says it was published jan 21st, but she started telling people she has a new job in dec already... isnt weird- saying you have a job before actually getting it?

As predicted, Carrie Hope Fletcher will be Truly Scrumptious in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tour between 4th May and 2nd October. The best news is.......it'll keep her away from the West End. Thank goodness this rather cheap looking tour has finished in my area

I quite like the man himself but will avoid what he does thanks to those types. They also 'pre-agree' certain moments in the show to stand and dance/generally make an annoyance of themselves.

I mean, I'm not entirely sure what you're saying here, but it's really not unusual in the entertainment industries for people to be given a job but asked not to talk about it until after an embargo date. So... yes, it would be weird to say you have a job before getting it, but you're assuming she hadn't been given the job back in December.

Booked for the Lowry. I think it is bad that this isn't doing proper concession rates for pensioners. Same for Billy Elliot.

Is Hushabye Mountain oddly sped up still? Thought that was quite jarring in Leeds. Yes, I thought it seemed rushed too.

A new (IMO, poorly made!) trailer has been released...
Didn't realise how small the Chitty car is! I'm surprised it's not a Kenwright production! At least from the side it still looks like the original, just miniature.

Good to see Manford can use the internet for other things.

Are they afraid to show the set and projections or something, because why are they showing the dark void of the auditorium in a lot of the trailer.
Ooh that bit where they have Manford singing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on a loop!
And there's only brief shots of the car (which is small and when I saw the show it jiggles around when people board it). The last shot I should see in the trailer is the car, not Truly hitting her motorcycle

Also, they have spelled Caractacus Potts incorrectly at the end...a noticeable error! :/

While I'm starting to find Jason Manford's Facebook posts slightly annoying, I agree it is a bit awful for an audience member to throw sweets onto the stage. I imagine it's due to the show's orchestra being in a room in the basement rather than in the pit this week in Southend. As for the comments about the trailer, it could possibly just be a first edit, maybe they'll release another one, but at the moment it just seems like a group of bad close-up panning/moving shots. Maybe they're avoiding face close ups due to the constantly changing cast.

Carrie has a clip of her rehearsing the Music Box number (it is literally 5 seconds long, one line only) but she sounds beautiful, very much higher than she sang in Les Mis, I think she will sound great in the theatre.

Michelle Collins has withdrew from the show after Wimbledon due to knee injury. Claire Sweeney to take over.
Shame would've loved to have seen Michelle but Claire is great!

I think she explained this in that she had another job and then got the Truly role so turned the other one down. Now I'm not a Carrie superfan by any stretch of the imagination but there's no denying she's a talented young woman and I think comments like 'well at least this'll keep her out of the west end' (not sure who said it) are a little unfair. If you can't say anything nice n all that....

I wonder if Carrie will extend her run because she's only supposed to run until like October and the tour goes on until Janurary
