Took my daughter to see Harry Styles last night in Brum which was a surprisingly enjoyable evening. He genuinely looked like he was really enjoying himself, which is in direct opposition to the bunch of surly, miserable looking contactual obligations hanging around a stage when I took her to see 1D. But the real star was the support act ‘Mable’ who I believe is Neneh Cherry’s daughter. I guess Dua Lipa would be the closest comparison, but I presume that her record company have been sitting on her for a bit as I only knew a few of the songs from radio.

I'll get straight to the pointe. Tomorrow I'm off to see the Northern Ballet production of Jane's Heir. It was going to be called The Inheritance, but someone beat them to it.

Today: Spring Awakening at Hope Mill, MCR. Wednesday Matinee. I was slightly hesitant about doing a midweek matinee but there are other people in the bar pre-show so I won’t be watching alone.

Tomorrow I shall be dusting off my Raleigh Chopper and cycling to Huddersfield to see The Scary Bikers - written by, directed by, co-produced by and starring John Godber OBE, and Mrs Jane Godber.
From what little I remember from my Economics O level, that is what is known as vertical integration!

On a layover in Toronto and my hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the Royal Alexandra where Come From Away is playing. 16 standing tickets available each day it says. Up I get at 7am, all wrapped up warm, get here just before 8am and.... I'm the first person here. This never happens! I've clearly overestimated the demand (although the show is sold out). Looks like I'm seeing Come From Away for 25 Cad dollars (£14)

What did you think to it Paul? I went on Thursday, sat in the circle and was thinking of leaving at the interval because of the horrendous leg room. Fortunately the (large) lady sitting next to me asked to be moved and I saw her in the FRONT row of the circle shortly afterwards so I stayed, stretched my legs and enjoyed the second half. I did find the story a bit hard to follow (I never buy a programme and haven't actually read the book for many years) but the dancing was wonderful.
