As great as this production was, I kind of think that a Broadway transfer would be kind of past-it now the hype from the London production has gone down. Of course Imelda is excellent in the role and deserves all praise, but I think from what I've seen on YouTube clips of her she's not exactly wowing the American audiences, maybe it's some sort of British prejudice? Besides anyone in the US could just watch the recording on BroadwayHD (the stagey Netflix), so to me it just sounds like something that will be heavily speculated but won't end up actually happening.
Still, would be happy to be proven wrong though! :-)

I see it happening, but only a 3 month stint or so.

It can't be that long since the Patti LuPone Gypsy.

I can't see her getting the plaudits she got here. It already feels like old news, so ramping up all that hype 2 years later will be very difficult. Add that to the "who is this English woman and why is she trying to perform one of the most iconic female leads in Broadway history" factor, and its a tough sell. And finally, as much as Imelda is brilliant on stage, she's just not very interesting or fabulous off stage.
