The Wicked threads never fail to make me eye roll... 🙄 Oh sorry, I meant eye riff. That couldn't be any cornea! 😉 I've always said the puns in these threads are awful, and now I've been proven right. Iris-t my case.

This is a bit belated but I did make it through the show on Monday, despite a thumping headache, and found it reasonably enjoyable. Nikki Bentley's take on Elphaba was a bit too one note angry for my taste but her singiing was good. Helen Woolf was very good; you can tell she's had plenty of experience in the role. Kim Ismay's Morrible was such a bitch from the start that it didn't really leave her anywhere to go in Act 2. I'm afraid neither Nessa nor Boq made much of an impression on me. I don't like the way the tour has the same actor for Dillamond & the Wizard - it ruins the poigniancy of Dillamond's re-appearance in Act 2 when you know it's a different actor - but within those limitations I thought Steven Pinder was good in both roles.
I was most surprised by Aaron Sidwell. I went in expecting not to like him much, as he's ex-Eastenders (I hate soap operas), the comments on here haven't been good, & in the production pics he had that shaven sides but long on top hairstyle that I dislike. However I was really impressed by his portrayl - to the point that I went & double-checked the cast board in the interval as I thought maybe it was an understudy on! His singing isn't the best I've heard (Olivers Tompsett & Saville) but is decent enough & I thought his acting & characterisation was right up there. Right from when they meet he showed that his Fiyero was intrigued by Elphaba so their relationship seemed more of a natural progression, rather than coming out of no-where like it sometimes seems to, & had a nice tenderness. For some reason I was expecting him to be a horribly cocky Fiyero but he wasn't. I was also very pleased that a) he can do decent RP & b) he's grown out the shaven-sided hair style!

In fairness, I’m not sure many people would be too bothered by Steven Pinder playing both roles, there were people at my show who only realised it was the same person at the bows!

Oh, I realise that, but when you do know then, at least for me, it does spoil it a bit. Though I suppose there is a certain irony that he's persecuting himself!

Wicked will love it, they're saving a salary and Dillamond is only in the second Act for all of ten seconds anyway.

Personally I don't think it ruins anything - I'm surprised they haven't rolled this out to London.

Personally I don't think it ruins anything - I'm surprised they haven't rolled this out to London. I was saying this on my twitter the other day. Surely it would make sense. Most Dillamonds are first cover Wizard, witch's father usually covers both and then another member of the ensemble for Dillamond. It would really make sense to just combine them, even the actor playing Witch's father could still do that track in the opening. Theres enough time to get the goat garb on.

And that Nessa and Boq are the flatheads... Is that only in the tour production? I'm pretty sure that in the OLC (who are still my reference for ensemble tracks) Cassidy Janson played one of them for starters.

In London at the moment it's Nessa, Boq and "Fainting Girl" (the one who sings "no one cries they won't return"), but if there's an understudy on for Nessa or Boq they'll usually get a swing to do that bit.

And remember in the tour they only have the two flatheads.

When I was watching OSD on Monday I looked for that track's Emerald City costume & couldn't spot it, hence I assumed whoever does that track currently on tour was playing one of the Flatheads.

Yeah I meant in London and the tour, as with Dan’s comment about Nessa and Fiyero being witch hunters in No One Mourns The Wicked. Apparently Danny Mac was a flathead when he was understudy Boq?

I probably sound really sad but I was actually genuinely thinking of getting Amy a gift because of how much Wicked as a show has done for me with boosting my self-esteem and confidence.

One of the hundreds of possible stage door gift opportunities offered by Wilton Road Argos. Not now it’s hidden in the crazy Tardis Sainsburys. Firstly you have to get over the shock of stepping into what you think is going to be a ‘Sainsbury's Local’ type affair only to be greeted by 600 checkouts, compounded with the realisation that it’s Argos too. Dunno if you order on the fag counter? Perhaps they stick your order slip in one of those capsules and it gets sucked up a pipe to the stockroom like in ‘the olden days’. Ask your Nan! 😂

Those stores where it is in Sainsburys are great as you can kill two birds with one stone and get your Nutella on the same visit. Result!

Oh god, that is still one of my favourite stage door stories for all the wrong reasons, just to picture how weird and bizzare it would of been. 😂😂
