Manchester is in for a treat - understudy Mickey Josh Capper, who has played Mickey all week so far, is on as Eddie tonight!
His very first time as Eddie, and a rare occurrence for the show.

I love how theatre companies come together for situations like this. I wait for the day a show I'm seeing has #notacover on @westendcovers. It is reminding me I need to get back to this show!

Was in the audience last night for my 30-somethingth time of seeing it. It's still my favourite and a pleasure to watch Blood Brothers history being made. It was the first time an actor had played Mickey and then Eddie on consecutive nights. Josh Capper did a great job, you couldn't tell he'd only had 2 hours rehearsal.
Niki Evans is a great Mrs J, vocally one of the best I've seen. I've really warmed to Robbie Scotcher as the narrator as well. Sean Jones is still at his best after all these years of playing Mickey and kudos to the other actors returning to the show after many years.
I've not seen the show since 2016 and it's in great shape. I'm pleased they've got rid of the echoes at the end of Madman, I thought it worked well.
Another funny moment last night: a cork popped with perfect timing as Mickey first approaches Linda early in Act 2. It had the audience and cast in stitches.
However, I've got to say, the audience were appalling last night. Numerous disruptions throughout, and hardly anyone wearing masks.

I'm convinced audience standards have gone down significantly since Covid.
Are there many examples of actors playing both Eddie and Mickey? In slightly more planned circumstances, I mean!

Not that I'm aware of. There was one instance in Derby a few years ago where the understudy Mickey fell ill during the first act on Saturday matinee, actual Mickey was already off ill, and understudy Eddie came on as Mickey with script in hand. That was Shaun McCourt, he played both roles in one week.

I've only just realised how close the Richmond theatre is to my home in Putney via train. Had a peek hoping that this would tour there but I suppose it heads to the considerably larger New Wimbledon as it can fill the seats! Pity as the Richmond seems like a lovely size for the show.

I think it played Richmond on the previous tour.

It was in Richmond two years ago. It does go to smaller theatres on occasion.

I saw it once in Skegness I think and it was like a school hall, with a stage a couple of feet off the ground. It was amazing.

I finally got to see it last night in Malvern. As you know, I am a huge fan, but I totally understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.
I honestly don't say this lightly, but this tour is honestly one of the best productions I have ever seen of it.
That's no slight on previous productions, just with this production everything falls into place, the chemistry is just right.
Niki Evans is absolutely outstanding.
Something about this production feels all new and fresh, with a bit of extra oomph.
I never say to others they will definitely love the show, as my love for it is deeply personal.
And it's also finally coming back home - at the Liverpool Empire 25 October to 5 November 2022.

Saw this in Bath tonight and was strangely unmoved. Niki Evans was a great Mrs J and all the pieces were there but there was something missing. I’ve no idea what.

Final two shows for this tour today at Theatr Clwyd in Mold. Sean Jones and Daniel Taylor are saying their final goodbyes. Again...! Danny has not previously said he was leaving the show forever, he left on a temporary basis to focus on other opportunities. Although I am not ruling out him ever coming back, but this time the way he has said goodbye it seems more permanent. He has opportunities lined up which will accommodate better for time with his son and family. Sean departed in 2019 to focus on caring for his elderly ailing parents. It was a shock decision for the fans, only announced shortly before the last shows. He left mid-tour, in February. He hadn't permanently left the show before then. He was offered a farewell tour for this spring, and decided to take the opportunity, and I don't blame him for taking work he was offered.

Despite what theatres (I'm looking at you, Liverpool Empire) may be saying regarding the Autumn 2022 Tour, the cast has not been confirmed as yet.
Sean Jones has to date not been booked for the next tour.
I can't speak for Niki Evans.
Would be nice if Kenwright would inform people in a timely manner, so theatres don't use old press releases.

For once Kenwright's site is up to date on time with the dates for the Autumn 2022 Tour but it won't let me post the link.
Starting 28 July in Windsor for three nights only, then on to Belfast the following week.
Despite venues announcing Niki Evans and Sean Jones starring, to date Sean has not been confirmed. I can't speak for Niki.
Starting for three nights in Windsor probably means significant cast changes.

Yes, especially given you said a few posts up that Sean Jones and Danny Taylor are absolutely definitely leaving at the end of the spring tour. Interesting to see who replaces them when they definitely leave as promised and aren't renewed ever.

I wonder if they have a new Mrs J if they're going back to Windsor? Sort of as a preview period.

Interesting to see who replaces them when they definitely leave as promised and aren't renewed ever. They were interested in keeping Sean on, but let's just say there is a deal breaker neither party will budge on. Therefore Sean did say he wouldn't be back.

Niki Evans will be back, she has been looking for digs.
So cast changes might be potential Mickey and Linda, definite Sammy, Mrs Lyons and Narrator.

I don't know what you want me to tell you, as I've explained it already. Sean Jones has a dealbreaker if they want to renew his contract, and was told before the last show in May BKL would not budge on it. So he genuinely thought he'd done his last show. However, BKL have been in touch since to renegotiate, but at the moment it is still stuck on the same dealbreaker. If they can't come to an agreement, there may be a new Mickey. If they can come to an agreement, Sean may well return.

The full cast for the Autumn 2022 Tour has been announced.
Please don't come for me - I understand auditions for Mickey had taken place, and Sean was re-signed only last week.
