I'm on the fence about the line up. I prefer the last one by quite a bit.
I'm only really interested in Trixie, Chi Chi and Kennedy.
Ben and especially Thorgy i found SO annoying in their seasons.

I laughed when Aja was announced too. What a mess, she won't last! That red and orange outfit she tried to get away with was the worst outfit in Ru history, that makeup was god awful!

I laughed when Aja was announced too. What a mess, she won't last! That red and orange outfit she tried to get away with was the worst outfit in Ru history, that makeup was god awful! On the promo for this you can see that Aja has started blending her makeup and as a result looks quite different. She even said so herself in her interview with Michelle Visage. I think that the charm of Chi Chi on her season was her ability to turn cheaper materials into an outfit. Now that she has the funds I’m not sure she will quite as unique as she was, but I’m prepared to be proven wrong.

UK premier is on Comedy Central 27th Jan. I don’t think it’s on Netflix this time.

I am rather ashamed to admit that I have only recently started watching any Drag Race. It probably is a violation of the Gay Rules or something.
I am catching up quickly - have watched seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9 - and All Stars 1. Currently halfway through 6
I could scream at all the product placement - but I will suck it up for all the gorgeousness

Must admit I've never watched this but obviously knew who Ru-Paul was back in the day.

Who is your favourite winner of past seasons so far oxfordsimon ? To be honest, most of my favourites haven't gone on to win I was most annoyed with Tyra winning - she was so far from being the strongest I also never bought into Raja as a winner - she was just walk with no humour I was pleased for Sharon and Sasha - but neither were my favourites. I am just watching the final of season 6 - and again don't really care who wins! I guess I enjoy the process more than the result!

I agree. It’s definitely more about the race than the finishing line for me. I think it’s the same with all reality shows mainly because they run too long (SCD being a case in point). Interesting that the X Factor cut down the number of shows for the last series, and unless they’re planning for more contestants to come into the show this next Drag Race might be shorter too.

I need to catch up on series 7 and 8 before I can assess things properly, but I feel that they could do with a refresh in terms of the regular challenges. I know the need for a formula - but if it is too predictable in terms of content, there is a lack of surprise and people can go in with a very good idea of what will happen and when. A couple of tweaks would keep it fresh and make contestants rethink their game plans.
Perhaps I need to watch Untucked as well to get the full picture...
But I have already worked out what my drag persona should be - just need to come up with the right name!

Wilma's already taken unfortunately!
I used to love this show, I haven't enjoyed the last couple of years as much but it's still an entertaining watch. It's given us some amazing queens and, of course, all hail RuPaul, who really should be President. Her or Oprah, I can't decide. Maybe they could job-share 😁

Spoilers ahead so don't read if not watched the first ep......
I was surprised to see Morgan go, she is clear streets ahead of Chi Chi. I have some major issues with Ben. He's all about this miss congeniality thing and being nice and fair which his drag character fits but his real self certainly doesn;t as he comes over resting bitch to me and like he's being fake. I mean you can't go round having a go at someone being honest they would send the stronger queen home to give themselves a better chance but then do the exact same thing to said queen! That's just showing true colours. Something rubs me up the wrong way about him/her.
Also this season seems an exact copy of last all stars with the whole "oooh, ru's got a plan for the eliminated queens thing, oooh!" thing.

I agree with the elimination decision, Morgan seemed much more into the competition than Chi Chi and as much as I loved Ch Chi in season 8, she just wasn't all there last night. Although with the bit at the end with Morgan, I wouldn't be surprised if she had an opportunity to get back into the competition!

If Aja had paid for a lot of work to be done, she needs to demand a refund. Yes, she can move but that is it.
Shangela is now polished and professional. Good to see.
Chi Chi was a mess. Bebe has work to do to catch up.
Milk is still too quirky.
I wish I could watch it all now. Not patient!

So glad to have this back! I think the right two were in the bottom and top but was surprised who was voted off, really liked Chi Chi in her season so am not sorry to have her stay. Can understand the reasoning why Ben voted the way he did, and may well have been tempted to make the same choice had I been in that position. I was getting a bit tired of everyone doing the "I'm going to lip synch and dance to my own track" routine, so glad that Ben, Thorgy and Trixie added some variety. That lip synch was one of the best.

I was more than happy with the result this week. The talent show was dull in comparison to previous years, too much “dancing to a track” for my liking. Thorgy, Trixie and Ben the best by far, and of the dancers Aja did put on more of a show. I was disappointed by Chi Chi as I thought she was great on season 8, I was so pleased to see her on All Stars. Something’s not quite right with her though. I was happy with the outcome of the bottom two as they were truly the worst. I don’t blame DeLa for that decision either, in the same position I would do the same.

Milk is gorgeous but she made a crap Celine! Ben and Shangela did well. Bebe was just herself and didn't deserve the praise. Thorgy was also dealt a bit of a duff hand, stuck with Stevie Nicks up against those other divas. And Vanessa Williams doesn't age.

The wonderful Christina Bianco provided most of the vocals for this.

Her Celine was pretty awful. But I can see why he was upset.
The choice of divas was not fair. Some were given far better lyrics/choreo/staging to work with - it is far easier to shine when someone has given you something worth polishing.
Ben was probably more impressive than Shangela in that respect as Julie Andrews was a far tougher role to make modern, edgy and funny than Mariah. Bebe is just phoning it in.

The show is definitely set up to give some of the girls more to do than others, I often think that in the challenges. Not that I'd ever suggest that reality TV is at all staged or rigged... 😁 it is unfair though when some of them had way more of an opportunity to shine than others. I don't rate Trixie or Thorgy but they were given boring roles and could do little with them. At the moment it's a 2 horse race between Shangela and Ben I think, with Ben currently leading 😁

Buh bye Thorgy. Milk out next week. Shangela to win. Although Shangela has improved massively since her first two failed appearances, I really don't want her to win. She has had her comeback moment. Milk probably doesn't have much further to go - even though she is far more interesting and creative (and pretty) than many of the others. Ben is the one for me. Real comedic flair and they need that in the Hall of Fame to work in contrast with the other two winners.

Well Thorgy was the weakest so deserved to go, but he was somewhat hamstrung by being given Stevie Nicks. I would rather that there was a mini-challenge and the queens either chose for each other or for themselves who they got.
Not getting the love for Bebe, her Diana Ross was good but the runway look was dull so I don't think she deserved to be in the top 3.
I really like Milk, Chi Chi and Trixie but they're not exactly setting the competition alight so probably won't be around much longer. Ben for the win.

No-one is going to turn up with a Stevie Nicks/Dolly/Mariah outfit just on the off chance. Same with the week 1 Challenge.

There is the theory going round that Bebe isn't there as a real contestant. She is a mole who will end up judging alongside Ru in the final.
She will just coast through. Not winning, not being in the bottom. And then emerge as a plant and also boosting her own profile as a result.
Sounds plausible to me. She certainly isn't putting much effort in so far.
