This is a bit unrelated but I have decided I will not look on this thread or any other almeida social media until after I have seen hamlet as I want everything to be e surprise and I know this will be a very cool production. Luckily I am seeing it next Saturday so will not have to wait long!! Also really like they are doing free tickets ( other shows/theatres should do it then I would be really happy)and was tempted but as I am already seeing it I would rather that ticket went to someone else who has not got a ticket yet.

Thank you SO much for bringing that up Polly1. Spent an hour in the queue on my phone but still managed to get 2 for the Tuesday and would never have known if you hadn't said. My first Hamlet!

How nice of them! It's an awful shame I'm over 25 and cannot be in London on those days.. Any news about the rumoured transfer?

First preview on Friday cancelled. Am I right in thinking they do this rather a lot there these days?

Got email around 16.40 about cancellation. Travelling from Manchester tomorrow. Do I try and see something else or spend time with my family and have yummy food? Food is getting more tummy votes!

You should hang out in the Musicals board, it happens fairly often in the MT world. Also they were hoping to do earlier previews of Cursed Child but very wisely held them off sale until such time they realised they weren't going to do them after all, at which point the whole idea was quietly dropped.

Reports from Twitter telling of a 3hr 50 minute run time of this...that's a lot of brooding Dane time. (and double interval as well)

Perhaps they are hoping to upsell cushions to help people survive that long in the theatre!

If that long, then self indulgent.

4 hours this evening plus a 10 minute delay starting
First preview though so I expect it will come down a bit! Second interval seemed redundant- maybe will end up as a short pause like in Oresteia
Very similar staging to Oresteia (patio doors, clever use of video, nice suits).
Better than the Cumberbatch production

If that long, then self indulgent. Not really. The pretty much flawless Rory Kinnear one ran at 3 hours 35 minutes, with only 1 interval. So if this is aiming for 3 hours 50 with 2 intervals, then it isn't that much different.

Was there tonight. The first half very much bedded in, the second needs another performance or two so that they can gauge and adapt to an audience. I'm sure that Icke knows where the rhythm and tone need work. Other than that, a first preview (by chance, as I usually avoid them) so I won't comment in detail. Scott was great, potentially brilliant if the above happens.
A few words as a taster though - intimate, surveillance, Dylan.

Success! Got in the queue at like 9am and got to the front at about 10:30. Booked a £10 ticket for a weekend in March. Looks like there's over 2000 in the queue currently.

I've been in the queue for nearly an hour and I've only dropped like 100 places to my current position of 1628. Good job I already have a ticket! (Also the queue is impressively long considering the running time has now been made public. )

Impressed that it maintains your place in the queue even if you disconnect (in my experience!) and also you can get it to email you when you are at the front, so you can connect from another device if you need to. Nice feature (assuming it works!)

Tickets have all sold out for it now. If you have not got a ticket yet they say there will be returns and there will also be dayseats. It seems harder to get tickets for this then Hamilton and I do feel very smug that I have a tickets and am beyond excited I will be seeing this in Saturday!!!!

Nice feature (assuming it works!) I've noticed that at the various venues that use Q-IT, and wonder the same thing. Do please try it, xanderl, and let us know. No, really, I do insist that you go first when next there's a massive line and < 100 tickets going I've tried it! It does work! It even worked when I exited the chrome app on my phone

Yep, worked for me too (not to the extent that I actually got tickets but ...)
Joined the queue from my laptop, then had to head off in a taxi, so used the link in the email to connect on my phone. Also got an email when it was time to go back and join the queue!
A nice bit of functionality for people with lives / jobs! Also - I suspect you could join the queue, then if you have to leave, get someone else to take your place - I hadn't logged in to the almeida site at this point.

Well, I loved this last night - almost 4 hours but the time flew by. Brilliantly behaved audience - you could have heard a pin drop. I wish Andrew Scott hadn't waved his arms around quite so much during his soliloquies, but otherwise he was excellent. Final death scene was incredible.
