I saw Michael Portillo at Henry V at the Globe recently, and Paul Gambaccini at the National a few weeks ago.

I saw him once when I was on a train at Chester Station and some guys were laughing at what someone on the platform was wearing. Looked over and it was him filming one of his shows. Lime green jacket and pink trousers.

Stiles & Drewe and Edward Seckerson were at Standing at the Sky's Edge for the Sat matinee.
And... the friend that I went with was sat behind Matthew Macfadyen's mother at a funeral on Friday!

This thread repeatedly redefines my understanding of 'famous'. And also, now, 'audience' ..

Not quite glowing, but certainly colourful. I think he had pink/red trousers and a bright blue jacket. He was in the pit so very easy to see from most seats!

Sat directly behind Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson at Standing at the Sky's Edge tonight. Loved the show but felt a bit distracted being so close to them!

You kinda expect Their Majesties to go to the Royal Opera House now and again. You kinda don't expect Hollywood royalty to be at the National on a Saturday night...roarin'. I can't get over it.
We've had a flurry of new members recently. I wonder...

Lily James watched Medea last Friday and got a photo with a fan!
…who also got a photo with one of the stars of the show, Ben Daniels
(For COVID reasons, Ben and Sophie don’t stage door but if you’re lucky to meet them post-show, then you’re indeed lucky)

Biggins at Shirley Valentine. Noticed him from across the stalls as he was hovering in the aisle with an usher right before the show started, before being led off to the rear stalls. Then he was back again, usher in tow, at the end of the interval this time having blagged himself an upgrade to about the fifth row.

I was sat just in front of Jonathan Groff at Sweeney Todd. Had a brief chat and he was utterly charming. Also spotter J Harrison Ghee at Fat Ham on Sunday.

Tobias Menzies and Alistair Campbell (second time I spot him) at Accidental Death of an Anarchist last night. TM was at the bar with friends gathered around the free water and it was only when I tried to get to it, that I noticed him.

I think we should dedicate this thread to theatre great and long time theatre supporter Alan Rickman That's perfect because I sat next to Mr Rickman at the Harlequinade, during Branagh's Garrick season a few years ago. He didn't look great but I suspect he'd gone to support Zoe Wanamaker as I he went back after the show. Sadly he died 4 weeks later I didn't speak to him as didn't wish to disturb him on a night out, but was thrilled to sit next to him and witness his beautiful sonorous voice up close (as he chatted with his wife). His voice was so low that it vibrated through the seat and our shared armrest and reverberated through my whole body.

I was stood next to Alan Rickman at the bar during the interval of A Few Days In The Country at the NT a few years ago, I didn’t say anything to him but I remember his wife glowering at me (maybe she could tell I had recognised him but I had no intention of saying hello, let alone asking for selfies or autographs): I’ve heard stories of celebrities dropping cuss bombs when approached by the public in public places so tend to leave them alone.

Yeah they don't need us annoying them as they go about their lives!

I saw Prof Stephen Hawking at the back of the Stalls for Singin' In The Rain. I was in the splash zone of the stalls, and noticed him when I got up for the interval. His wheelchair is quite tall, and was positioned behind the last row of the stalls left side, and he was accompanied by a nurse. He really seemed to be enjoying the show (it was pretty good fun).

Helena Bonham Carter at yesterday's Guys and Dolls matinee. My wife had to ask her to move her chair so we could get to our friends and she was lovely about it!

This a throwback but I’d have to say Jude Law at Spamalot
I was in the same row and he was “actively” watching. Moving in his chair etc. it was fascinating to watch him watch the show.
