you should have read the 'I am too wonderful to term my phone off during a show camp' 'I just leave it on silent camp' . on the abc (australia) facebook forums. I wonder if they are attacking Hannah because she is LGBTQI? a women or both. Which makes me wonder if we have all become more dumb then ever.

I don’t understand why they don’t do funny tannoy announcements and loud phone noises before a show and even after the interval. At first they did this, then they seemed to think we had learned but I think the lesson has to be repeated regularly!

James (the band not men called) is notoriously the worst event for behaviour the WMC ever had and for a time halted their foray into concerts. Highlights included the man using the lift as a urinal and the men who thought they were outside while lighting up a “cigarette” but in fact were in the first floor bar...

I've never seen the I on the end of LGB etc before, only recently saw about the Q being added. It will be the whole Alphabet soon. I always just used LBB and now stretch to LGBT but beyond that I think it is getting to long. I read somewhere there were 40 odd gender definitions.

LGBTQIA+ seems to be the current commonly used acronym, you're lightyears behind if the I is new. I did enjoy the period where people were trying to make QUILTBAG a thing, it's much quicker to say, but I guess once you're used to saying LGB or LGBT or LGBTQI then rearranging the letters entirely just doesn't come as naturally as adding new ones on the end.

It is still referred to LGBT by the Company I work for and we have a lot of LGBT staff and they highlight all the various causes, rainbow pass lanyards etc. Also I've helped friends promote music gigs and many of the performers we have promoted are LGBT and I've talked to them about such things and never heard them say the extended initials. These were people who were in their early 20's so it wasn't just a generational thing by me being in my late 40's. If things are being extended then I will take note of them but it almost seems as if it could now include almost anyone. Plus Q a lot of people would naturally assume could mean Queer in an LGBT type sense. I'm using the word queer in the sense that it is used in something like Queer Eye for a Straight Guy not as any sort of derogatory sense towards the many gay people who may post on here. Sorry to have gone a bit off topic but I'm just being honest about what I know. QUILTBAG would have been a great annogram to have had btw.

It will be all the reasons, though, with opinions expressed with extra vitriol because she’s a gender non-conforming, same-sex loving human. So how dare she etc etc. She should be made a national treasure, not attacked.

"LGBT" is in any case an artificial confection, lumping together as it does two entirely different sorts of people. Gay people do not think of themselves as belonging to the other sex. Being gay is not a staging-post en route to being trans. It makes as much sense to lump LGB and T together as it would top declare that all single parents and all sex workers make up "the SPSW community".

I don't think it could be considered "bad behavior" if the audience didn't enjoy it enough to erupt in a standing ovation at the curtain call... Whereas a standing ovation IS bad behaviour because it forces the people behind to stand if they want to see the finale/bows.

The audience I had at Ghost in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago. During a short period of technical difficulty, we got told over the tannoy to stay seated. Despite this, people went out to the bars. Then all through the song “With You” which came immediately as the curtain rose again, all you could hear was people opening cans and rustling bags of crisps. UGH. I felt bad for the actors too. They did a brilliant job, and it was a tough audience, ie if I hadn’t started clapping after With You, nobody would have. Then in the bows, not a single person stood. I wanted to, but I didn’t want to be the only person, as it was clear that nobody else was going to. Perhaps the audience was full of considerate people who realised how inconsiderate it is to stand and so block the view of the finale/bows of the people behind.

I think the intention is that the LGB community has fought hard and campaigned for the recognition of our basic human rights, and now we’re using that platform to help others on their journey to equality. So yes, same sex attraction and gender identify are not the same, but the discrimination received is similar. So let’s be stronger together.

I saw James once and a very drunk woman came and stood next to me and kept hitting me on the head when she clapped. Generally we were hating the gig and it is one of only 2 gigs I've ended up leaving early!

I was at a recording of Loose Women yesterday (the glamour) which was being recorded for another day. One of the panel was Brenda Edwards and her phone was vibrating for a while during a segment as she had forgotten to turn it off!

As it turns out it is incredibly distracting to me when someone cracks nuts (pistachios?) and chomps their way through them during a play. Further performances from a noisy sweets unwrapper and a phone lightning up next to me at The Phlebotomist last night.

Possibly he was stopped before getting into the actual auditorium.

Low level rustling for most of the first half. I don't know how the woman next to me managed to sleep through it..

Only last week, I went with friends to see Phantom. Some middle aged women was there with her young adult daughters - all caked in make up and HD eyebrows (clearly Kardashian fans)
They muttered and giggled throughout the entire act 1, which my poor friend who loves theatre but gets to go very, very occasionally, had to endure their pure selfishnness.
I mentioned to the FOH staff, and words were had by the Duty Manager during the interval. Well done Her Majestys!
On the same row, but the other side of our group were a young Chinese couple. She was texting within 5 mins of the show starting - I could see the usher hovering to get her attention - I was 4 seats from the end of the row, so when he couldn't, I helped out and leaned over and jabbed her, LOL! Pointed at the usher.
What do you DO with such ignoramuses?!?
Conversely her male companion bowed his head and slept through it all - until the gun shot in act II when he, comically, nearly jumped out of his seat!

Somewhat baffled that the woman sat next to me at Follies yesterday, who had been a bit fidgetty throughout, chose to apply lip balm in the middle of "Losing My Mind". If you need to do something like that then at least do it in an applause break, like I did when I had to mop up after crying at "One More Kiss", not in the middle of the best-known song of the show.

Oh, and I have yet to admit this, but during Company last year a reminder alarm went off on my phone JUST before LuPone started doing her star turn!!!! Couldn't have timed it better! I was mortified and was waiting for her to call me out (the honour!) as we were only a few rows from the stage I never switch my phone off in the theatre, only put into flight mode, but of course that doesn't silence rogue/forgotten alarms! Never again!!!!!!!
