Trailer For 2017/2018 UK & Ireland Tour Omigod...I know Legally Blonde isn't a masterpiece of musical theatre, but does it really deserve a production this cheap looking. Is Elle supposed to be channeling Adore Delano with that hair. And could the costume designers not have gone somewhere more upmarket for Elle's costumes...last May's Vogue, or last May's sales rack in Primark???

Trailer For 2017/2018 UK & Ireland Tour I'm unsure why but this trailer made me feel like this production has vibes of RENT through it... Not necessarily in a good way...

I caught the start of this tour in Bromley and I enjoyed it. I am usually very critical but I found this frothy, fun, well performed and staged. It's not Sondheim, but it does what it says on the tin. It benefits from having a fabulously sung Elle by Lucie Jones.
Just sometimes with musical theatre (as long as it is not shockingly bad) it is good to leave your critical faculties at the door and just enjoy.
I thought the production values for a tour were pretty good. I have seen far worse!
But obviously, Follies at the NT it aint!

The wigs, costumes and set all look like they are from different shows, thrown together for this production. It doesn't work well, just looks cheap and tacky. Not at all Elle Woods. The cast seem great though.

Compared with most of whats appeared since 2010 Legally is a work of genius . I agree though the outfits looke bizarre - though I thnk in many cases thats because people were wearing two or three of them at once.

Saw this in Cardiff last night and just loved it! Lucie was note perfect as Elle and I thought played the comedy really well! As others have said, Rita was a very pleasant surprise as Paulette. Great comic timing and who knew she could sing like that! A real grit to her voice she was fab!
I thought the direction was great and everyone left with a huge smile on their face. Ridiculous megamix but lots of fun!
Standing ovation but no surprise there for a welsh girl in Cardiff! Thouroghly well deserved though. See it if you can.

Manchester no longer the final dates, just for anyone who was booking to specifically be at the closing performance

This is such a random venue. The INEC isn't even really a theatre, but it's far closer than Dublin, so I guess I'll be seeing the show there instead!

VERY random, its a convention centre attached to a hotel, its not a theatre. It doesnt have any fly system or an orchestra pit. Its not a regional touring venue. It holds events like road safety campaigns or conferences and small concerts and its sometimes used as a restaurant but it never holds theatre shows. They obviously have a way around the no fly system dilemma. Very random though

The Orchestra will be on remote, from another nearby room (as they were in Bristol as the pit was down for Maintenance). It may not be the last venue either...

Band from memory were on a balcony with black drapes to hide them.
The children were on a balcony. . the worst bit was the venue didnt have cue lights, so we haver to programme in red and green parsons to use as cue lights when they should come to stage etc.
The dressing rooms were - fun!!! Never seen so many people in just 2 dressing rooms there! Was an interesting place.
Company office I got to use an entire studio upstairs all to myself! I certainly wasn't complaining.
For flying - we just cut most of it. Luckily our show didnt need so much of it.
Saying that, was great times there, and the most amazing digs. !
The venue which we did after - Castlebar was certainly a wow wow. We were the first show back in after their major refurb / build . . . now THAT was interesting. . .they were still outfitting, but would loose too much money if we cancelled. So as they say, the show must go in

The current cast are contracted to July 2018. I don't imagine it will extend past then.

Will Lucie Jones still be playing Elle by the time the production comes to Killarney? If not I might have to take the trip to Dublin!

Just saw the show tonight in Belfast.
After seeing the trailer I was not really looking forwarf to seeing this production, but its actually better than the trailer made it out to be.
Yes it still looks like it was done on the cheap, but the entire cast really made it work.
2 things I am glad about that have since been changed since the trailer was released... 1. Elles wig has now been styled into a similar curled styled as Act 1 of the previous London/Tour production, instead of that straggly mess that is in all the production photos. 2. The pink Legally Blonde Remix dress she wears after coming out of the supply closet is now similar to the Sheridan Smith style dress, instead of the pink headmistress suit in the trailer and on the poster.
These are the 2 things that really bugged me before seeing the show tonight, so was quite happy to see they have been changed.

I went to see the matinee in Belfast earlier today. The Grand Opera House really needed to turn the heating up, it was absolutely freezing.
Anyway - back to the show. I have seen Legally Blonde twice in London and loved everything about it but unfortunately I felt the opposite about this production. The set throughout looked flimsy, cheap and tacky. Speaking of tacky, there were some very strange costume choices. I found it hard to believe Elle would choose to wear quite a few of those dresses. I also need to mention the noisy pom poms in "What You Want" - they were louder than the singing.
Performance wise, it took me a while to warm to Lucy Jones as Elle - she has a very nice voice but i'm not sure about some of her acting choices. The rest of the cast were fine, they all had great energy. The standouts for me were Rita Simmons as Paulette and Helen Petrovna as Brooke and the actress playing Serena (I didn't buy a programme so I'm not sure of her name).
I also may be out of line saying this but Lucy is slightly bigger than the other girls in the show (I think she may have lost her copy of Brooke Wyndham's workout video) although I feel like the terrible costumes didn't do her any justice.
Overall (In my opinion) I am surprised this particular production is touring the UK. Costumes, set, choreography and direction were not as good as they could have been. The best thing about this production are the cast, but I still won't be making a second visit.
Also that megamix at the end needs to stop - it made this production that bit more painful.

I'm afraid I really think you are out-of-line saying this. What does Lucie's size matter to the role. Elle Woods is supposed to be a beautiful girl and that Lucie is. And I don't think she's "big" at all by even the crazy size standards of today's society!
