Quite excited for this. I’ve long wanted to see a production of a Jerry’s Girls but thought the prospect of this was unlikely.

What horribly underwhelming casting. Was hoping to see this but will pass now.

On the website it states there is no re-admittance if you leave your seat. It has 2 hours as the run time. Anybody know if there is an interval?

Have to admit the casting is dreadfully underwhelming. I thought we were going to get at least one big name from MT.

There is a strict no re-admittance policy at the Menier for all shows. This is due to the way the theatre is set up. I would say there will be an interval but if you leave during act 1 you won't be allowed back until the interval.

Agreed. Cassidy is a pretty big MT name. I’m booking on the strength of her alone! Similarity with Lyn Paul.

Cassidy has been Carole King in the CK musical, Elphaba in Wicked, Florence in Chess, Aldonza & Dulcinea in Man of La Mancha and won an Olivier (2020) for Anne Hathaway in &Juliet, all in the West End. She’s done a tonne of other MT stuff too, was part of Leading Ladies with Beverley Knight & Amber Riley and released her own album on BMG.

Seem to remember seeing Julie Yammanee playing all the female roles in Spamilton at the Menier a few years ago. Pretty incredible talent. Looking forward to seeing Cassidy.

Am I showing my age or my lack of MT knowledge? The first thing that I thought when I read Lyn Paul was The New Seekers.

Lyn Paul played the lead in Blood Brothers for a long time, too, no?
Julie Yammamee was also in Priscilla, IIRC.
Not a cast I would personally book for, but definitely names. It just sort of reflects my own feelings that we haven't really had big "diva names" in the West End for a longer while with people like Imelda Staunton (who I'd still class more a TV/movie actress than a musical theatre diva) hogging classical diva roles like Mama Rose, Sally and now Dolly, or American divas like Stephanie J Block being brought over for Kiss Me Kate (and soon Vanessa Williams in Rrada), while potential proper West End divas like Hannah Waddingham seem to be lost to television and her own shows. Maybe it's also a reflection of the fact that we've mainly had shows that don't put anyone in particular center stage (like Six) or the deluge of "small quirky shows" that are all well and nice, but also don't lend themselves to propelling someone to the A-League.

Lyn played the role of Mrs Johnstone off and on from 1997 to 2021 and was also in Taboo amongst other things. This link to a video of one of the great songs of Taboo from the Albert Hall. Anyone who knows Blood Brothers will know Lyn was one of the best Mrs Johnstone's.

With the low pay and conditions for the actors at the Menier, I’m not surprised she’s bailed.

With the low pay and conditions for the actors at the Menier, I’m not surprised she’s bailed. Presumably she would have been well aware of these before signing up? Do we have to read anything else into the reason given?
