Seriously what is your problem? This is meant to be a nice place where we can discuss things. If you don't want to respond then just don't. No need to be so rude about it. Apologies D'James. It was not intended rudely. The information is readily available on google. OK. I wasn't asking for the song list, just stating disappointment at the lack of a song list in the programme/brochure as it's nice to have everything in one place without having to rely on the Internet. Thanks @theatremonkey.

Disappointed there was no song list in the programme. Did they ever do separate programmes and brochures or has it always been an all in one? So in Manchester they did. There was the usual ATG programme. This had a song list in it (was in alphabetical rather than show order - was also extensive and many had been cut by time i saw it at the end of the Manchester one). Then the brochure in Manchester was almost identical to the ENO one - though nearly all the photos were updated, but of the same scenes interestingly. You can spot that quite a few people have different costumes. Was annoying that ENO didn't do a smaller programme as an alternate offering. Everything about that place seemed to be about money grabbing.

I've never timed it but I would describe it as long enough that it's impressive he holds his breath that long (he doesn't, there's a little water-less space he can go to breathe) but not so long that it's boring. I still think that's a fabulous stunt. I was also childishly impressed by the bats with red eyes flapping across at the end. I also like coloured glass and anything shiny.

is there now no CD coming out? Autumn apparently. Much like The Girls CD though it's definitely been made but the release date keeps moving further and further out of reach. Will believe it when I'm holding it (which I really hope will happen). As they've just cut It Won't Quit and make a few edits I wonder if they are waiting until the show is 'finalised' (to the extent that musicals ever are). Wonder if they will do a double or single CD? Steinman songs all being about 10 mins long lol, there would need to be some serious editing to get it onto a single. Hope they go for a complete recording!

While this is true, Rob very rarely used it as far as I'm aware. Although there were a few days when he jumped out early because he had an infection and the water was freezing!

Thank you. I saw a small one on eBay and saw it was from Manchester and wondered if they'd ever done them in London. I'm looking forward to the CD as I really enjoyed the vocals. How was It Just Won't Quit staged? What other cuts have been made? (Sorry for more questions.) It was the third song in the show, sung after 'Who Needs The Young' and before 'Out Of The Frying Pan'. It was staged on two levels, with Raven up in her bedroom and Strat and the Lost below, in their lair. Raven would sing the first part of the song in her bedroom, dancing, while her image was projected on the wall stage right; below, some of the Lost were mirroring the same choreography. Strat joined in in the second verse, and Tink sang the last line. A really good song and I thought it was brilliantly staged. I actually enjoyed the choreography in that number. Hope they put it back in eventually. The only other cut I recall is 'Good Girls Go To Heaven' being replaced by 'Out Of The Frying Pan' between Manchester and London. And they keep on trying to fix the dialogue, for better or worse. Also, I might be going crazy but I swear Raven used to fly on wires in 'Heaven Can Wait' in Manchester...

Here's a little bit of history for you all. I have been researching June Bronhill in the EMI Archives and I came across a memo dated 10 September 1958 from the EMI recording producer Norman Newell to the Managing Director of EMI Records Ltd just after Norman had recorded highlights from the Sadler's Wells production of 'The Merry Widow' with June Bronhill that was playing a summer season at the Coliseum, well before it became the home of Sadler's Wells Opera which then became English National Opera:
"I attended the last night of 'THE MERRY WIDOW' at the Coliseum prior to its tour and never in my theatrical experience have I seen any reception to equal the one they received on this occasion."
'Bat Out Of Hell', eat your heart out! No, I'm joking. Tuesday night was fantabulous and I was very happy to be cheering along at the end.

Ooh, I didn't know this. That's VERY impressive then, he's down there a slightly uncomfortably long time. I did wonder if he was actually going to come back up again the first time I saw it. Such a talented cast, I hope it's the same company, at least for a while, when it returns in 2018.

If they got the cast to record full unabridged versions of all of the songs they sing bits of in the show, I would be happy to pay far more than usual cast recording price for the full package.

I've probably forgotten it. They cut it a few shows in Burly... I think that IJWQ was the least MT/most experimental song in the show which had me thinking I was going to hate it the first time. It had such a dream like, slightly druggy quality to the staging which was very atmospheric. However, it did slow the show down a touch, and if they are looking at a manageable transfer they've done the right thing in shaving off another five minutes. Otherwise the poor cast would never eat on a two show day! (Such is the thirst for their time at Stage door!🙄)

Looking back over the recent posts on this thread, it seems to me to be regrettable when the production team of a major show keeps tinkering with it, usually to cut bits that fans have enjoyed. I suppose they are trying to improve the show overall but it is extremely aggravating to go back for another visit and find that a favourite number or bit of business is no longer there. Let's hope that when Bat comes back to London in 2018 it will have all the cut bits reinstated and if everything is not there then Theatre Board members should organise a protest!

I think the problem is that Bat has such passionate fans (and I include myself in that) that ANY cut song would lead to them being a bit miffed. As ever though, the biggest fans a very small % of the ticket buyers, and Joe Public likes his shows short and sharp. Agree is a shame though and I too dream of a no cuts version. I find the line "and I never really sleep anymore" in Just Won't Quit really resonates emotionally with me.

I really miss this show. The West End should never have to cope without two and a half hours of Jim Steinman music in its midst every night.

Nominations are open for this year's Broadway World UK Awards. After Andrew's great win in The Stage Awards, it'd be great to continue the fortune with some success for the team in the BWUK Awards which has far more categories. Here's a list of everyone who is eligible, and which categories you can nominate them in: Best Acting Ensemble in a New Production of a Play or Musical Bat Out of Hell Best Actor in a New Production of a Musical Andrew Polec Best Actress in a New Production of a Musical Christina Bennington Best Choreography of a New Production of a Play or Musical Emma Portner Best Costume Design of a New Production of a Play or Musical Jon Bausor and Meentje Nielsen (joint) Best Direction of a New Production of a Musical Jay Scheib Best Lighting Design of a New Production of a Play or Musical Patrick Woodroffe Best New Production of a Musical Bat Out of Hell Best Performance by an Understudy / Alternate in Any Play or Musical Jemma Alexander Emily Benjamin Stuart Boother Georgia Carling Jonathon Cordin Jordan Lee Davies Olly Dobson Hannah Ducharme Rosalind James Ruben van Keer Eve Norris Tim Oxbrow Andrew Patrick-Walker Benjamin Purkiss Anthony Selwyn Patrick Sullivan Best Set Design of a New Production of a New Production of a Play or Musical Jon Bausor Best Sound Design of a New Production of a Play or Musical Gareth Owen Best Supporting Actor in a New Production of a Musical Rob Fowler Dom Hartley-Harris Aran McRae Giovanni Spano Patrick Sullivan Best Supporting Actress in a New Production of a Musical Sharon Sexton Danielle Steers t.co/dmPQ0ptccU

Out of interest, do you know if all the understudies listed actually went on for any of the roles they covered? Most of them went on due to cast illness at some point but they gave scheduled shows to pretty much everyone who didn't in the last few weeks of the run as a courtesy thing. West End Covers tweeted about all of them going on except Anthony Selwyn and Jonathan Cordin, but Anthony Selwyn DID actually have a Tink show, they just missed it. So it's only Jonathan Cordin I don't actually know about, but he covered Blake which is the smallest of the lead roles, meaning he may have gone on and none of the Bat fans thought to make a big deal about it. He probably didn't, I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Can't believe he won at The Stage awards. Can I ask why? I saw five of the nominated performances in that category and I would've given it to any of them ahead of him. He was good but not amazing in my humble opinion.

Can't believe he won at The Stage awards. Can I ask why? Wasn't he up against Audra? AUDRA. He was good, but not Audra good. But the Stage award was a popularity contest and Bat has some pretty loud fans!
