Saw the new cast’s first performance yesterday and thought I’d give my thoughts on here. Claire, Christian, and Sean are staying with the show, they are just as great as they have been for the past year. Christian and Sean who are covers moving to principals seem to have taken the opportunity to make their characters their own and they were both the best I’ve seen them. Emily Barber as Montagu was great, she was noticeably nervous towards the start of the show but got more confident as it went on (Missed a couple of lines and felt a bit quiet compared to the rest of the cast). She’s got the characterisation of her Montagu down, a-bit less over the top masculine than Natasha and more similar to Holly Sumpton. She will definitely settle into a great Ewen. Chlöe Hart easily stole the show, she was already so confident in her roles, a stern and intimidating Bevan while also being so fun to watch in her comedic roles, her Haselden especially being the star of the show getting a great response from the fan-filled audience (having to deal with both a set and a costume mishap as well). For anyone worried about losing the original cast, don’t be. The show is in great hands and for anyone who enjoyed the show, I’d definitely encourage a repeat visit for the new cast.

I'm actually more excited about seeing this new cast. The first time I went I saw Christian and Sean so for me, they were my Hester and Charles anyway. It helps I think that as I saw the original line up just once - I didn't have a huge attachment to them.

It's such a quick paced show, I bet missing a line must feel awful.
